I watched some video on summer league games featuring Terrence Ross. What's everyone's take on this kid so far? It looked like he took a lot of shots in the Summer League only to shoot in the low 40% range. If we expect anything from players, shouldn't they pretty much dominate in summer league if they are going to be contributing during the regular season. did anyone actually watch the summer league games? Does Ross look promising? Are there intangibles in his play that we can't see in the BoxScores??

Heard an interview with Casey and all Casey was talking about was Ross's defense. Said he had to get bigger and stronger but no talk of his offensive ability.
Personally I didn't think it was a great pick but I wasn't excited about Jonas and now I am so we will see what happens this fall.

Jonas Valanciunas Shines in Limited Time

Linas Kleiza is Back

When the Toronto Raptors signed Linas Kleiza as a free agent two summers ago, it looked like they had a steal as Kleiza just led Lithuania to an unexpected bronze medal at the FIBA World Championships. Then a knee injury during the NBA preseason led to inconsistent play and eventually season-ending surgery for the 27-year-old. Kleiza didn’t return to action until midway through last season and with the condensed schedule, he was ineffective on short rest with just a tease of his former self appearing periodically.

At the Olympic Qualifying Tournament in July, Kleiza averaged 19.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and looked like he had fully recovered. In his first four games at the Olympics, Kleiza is averaging 18.3 points on 51 percent shooting and 6.3 rebounds. In his best game, he scored 25 points against the U.S.

The mobile and effective Kleiza of two summers ago has been on display again and that is very encouraging news for the Raptors. Kleiza even knocked Nocioni over the scorer’s table during his first game in London. He would say it was an accident, but that was the kind of edge a soft Toronto team needed when they acquired him back in 2010.
Thanks good article. If Kleiza plays for the Raps with as much effort as he does for Lithuania I will be a huge fan. That would take so much pressure off the rest of the offense. I'll be waiting and watching with much anticipation. Jonas will be another work in progress, I think(hope) he will progress faster than most.

Matt Devlin is doing broadcasting for the Rogers Cup Tennis Tournament. Kind of interesting to hear him do another sport.
At first I didn't like Devlin because Chuck Swirsky was the king, but he's pretty solid. Looking forward to hear him call the Raps again this year.

Devlin is finewith Leo. I wish they would turn off Hamilton's mike. He seems to think he has to talk more than Devlin.
Chuck was excellent and it is too bad for us that he moved on.

Yeah curious to see how Jonas fits in for the Raptors.

Agree that Ross was not an exciting pick. I thought with the much talked about depth of the draft this year we should have gotten someone with more hype.

There are a couple of off season moves that made the Raptors better and the Raps didn't even have to be involved in a trade to do it . Number 1 is the West got the first overall pick and last night/today Dwight Howard left the East and went to a Western team . Magic = lottery team now !

Jose Calderon should understand that, when the game was on the line and "D" is the most important factor, He did not see the floor. That is why the Raps have decided to go to Houston in search for a old medal . Hopefully you accept the backup role the same way you excepted it in the fourth quarter .

Not the best coached game for the Spanish though. With about a minute left and down by about then, they should've sent their 3 pt shooters out there instead of wasting time dumping the ball in for 2 pts.

Looks like Casey will have more to work with. I still think Colangelo will make a trade. I think he has to shake the boys up and I wouldn't be surprised if any of the following were moved, Calderone, Kleiza, Davis, Amir, DeRozen, Bargnani. If the right player(s) were offered anybody on that team could be moved.

I disagree, cause I think Cassey and Colengelo will be striving for stabilty in the roster . ( Although if a right offer is out there he would like to get rid of Calderon ) Last year was a shortened, lock out season and so Cassey didn't have a full training camp and this summer brought 6 new
to the Raptors and so I think Cassey would like to see what he can do with this new roster before the revolving door of players start again .

defense should be decent, barring injuries. still need scoring.
I think this team should be an improvement over what we have had the last couple of years.
