It's not boring when you've had relatives killed in concentration camps!
So you are saying a mediocre movie gains gravitas simply by association to the subject matter?
I watched Red Tails recently and thought it was complete crap even though I can appreciate the story of the Tuskegee Airmen. Just because it references a worthy story doesn't give it credit on that basis.

Are you serious?!?!?!? I've seen some really dumb posts in TERB-land, but this almost takes the cake.

What did you expect - Rambo to come in and kill Hitler with a toilet seat or something? Did you expect to see teenagers loose their virginity at Oktoberfest shenanigans? Were you making-out with your girlfriend during the flick (anyone care to cite the reference)?

A bad movie - I don't think so. Watch it again, and this time, plug in your brain.
No need to have a hissy fit and get all insulting... I simply think there are better movies and Spielberg was all too heavy handed here. For me nothing is more emotional than the documentaries based on the camp footage. From there, I think there are a lot of movies that are much better... whether Shoah, Au Revoir les Enfants, The Pianist, or Judgment at Nuremberg. I even think something like Maus tells a far better story (though it has its critics as well). Just because a movie is about such a reverential topic does not mean it can't be bad (and reverential topic aside, I don't think time has been kind to it).

Some people think Cruise is a good actor. Some people think Spielberg makes great "important" movies. I don't. See it is simple. No need for insults.

Here is another critical view which I agree with: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAKS3rdYTpI&feature=related

No, but i also happen to think it was very interesting because it's based on the true story of Oscar Schindler!

Well we don't need to ask what the Schenk von Stauffenberg family thinks of him, General Graf von Stauffenberg (the Colonel's eldest son) stated that loudly and clearly in 2007.

Good riddance to both of them. Don't like Tom Cruise or Katie Holmes. Cruise can be a good actor though, but his weird, twisted beliefs of how the universe works... ugh.

they didn't die or leave the country, they just went from the middle of the enquirer to the front page.

I couldn't agree more, Garrett. I find that people who tend to think and say that usually only watch unilingual films.

Cruise reads a script and says: "How do I turn this character into a version of Tom Cruise?"

Great actors, Real Actors like Penn, Streep, Day-Lewis read a script and say: "How do I turn completely into this character?"

Cruise. No.

I dunno - I'm picky. Add Ryan Gosling and Leonardo DiCaprio to your list....

Tom Cruise is still solid though not in the "Great ones" list for me...

Being a scientologist seems very narcissistic when you listen to Cruise in that video.
Scientologists believe they are immortal and descended from aliens! Such nonsense. It's also a tax exempt religion in the USA.
Cruise also believes that psychiatry is harmful along with the anti psychotic and anti depressant medications.

And shitty fiction too. I read Battlefield Earth - yes the whole thing - because I hoped that at some point it stopped being a hot steaming bowl of dog shit.

I was wrong.
i watched it to save myself some time. it was just as bad visually. no wonder travolta likes to get handies from guys, that movie made him gay.
