What utter rubbish. In a democracy we don't put aside candidates. Anyone qualified and nominated gets to run. I voted in our municipal democracy, not your personal version of it.
Your version amounts to, no matter who you think best, you can only vote for the three—why three pray tell?—who you say are the most popular. Who made you King? Or whoever judged this popularity contest of yours?
Anyway, it isn't anything I'd want to encourage. And fortunately, our system is different. You oughta try it. Anything on the topic? Or of general interest? Or of any interest at all? Your one-man electoral system doesn't qualify. Nor for that matter does how I voted.
You can vote for whoever you wish. However, if you're going to call people "fools" for voting for Ford, you should be able to name someone who you think was a better candidate. And it should be from the list of candidates who were actually in the race. That disqualifies Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, and many others.
You can't do it.
The person you say you voted for had already dropped out of the race (http://news.nationalpost.com/2010/0...-out-of-mayoral-race-backs-george-smitherman/).
Of the three non-fringe candidates who were still in the race -- Ford, Smitherman and Pantalone -- you couldn't find anyone to support who was better than Ford.
So why are the people who voted for Ford "fools" if -- by your own back-handed admission -- there was no one better?
