Not guilty. Violence is allowed on hockey rinks, everyone knows that. Until players start getting charged for their roughness, this guy should get away with it too.

Coaches of young kids should act as role models and exhibit a bit more class than this dickhead.
Violence is part of hockey but so is sportsmanship. That is the reason for the handshakes at the end of a series.
Shame on the coach and all his players that taunted the crowd afterward. IT is too bad the league did not withhold their medals.

He should be banned from coaching and charged with assault as the kid he tripped suffered an injury. That, or put in him a room with the angry parents and see what happens. If he had done this when my dad was coaching kids this age,, my dad would have made sure he didn't leave the ice in one piece.

So are you telling us that your dad is also a moron?

He should be banned from coaching for such behaviour, if done intentionally.
i totally agree
i watched the video a few times and can't be sure he did it intentionally he had shoes on and it was an ice rink. however he apparently gave the parents the finger afterwards so i am thinking it was done intentionally

Yet another example of taking kid games way too seriously.

There are way too many of these asshole guys who think that coaching a team of 13 year olds is one of the steps to becoming a professional hockey coach. Gone are the days of kids having fun and goofing around on the ice. Coaches now demand discipline, rules, zone play, drills, etc. Fuck, give me a break! There is an extremely small percentage of these kids that will ever amount to shit, and if for some fluke reason they make it as a pro or semi-pro, some fuck-wad who coached them when they were 13 would have had zero impact on their success.

Hopefully they make an example of this asshole and ban him from any type of organized sport and charge his ass big time.

Obviously intentional.
He's an asshole.
I agree, someone like him shouldn't be coaching kids.
Bad example for kids.

... as the kid he tripped suffered an injury. ...
What kind of whiny bitch ambulance chasing parent would call that an injury? The kid would have fallen the exact same way hundreds of times before getting to that level of hockey and will fall hundreds more.

The guy should be banned from coaching but criminal charges are a joke.

It looked pretty intentional but not criminal.
If it was intentional, it's assault.

I will expect our resident legal experts to confirm, refute this.

Doesn't the Canadian legal system have to show some level of harm for something to be considered a crime?

Well, one of the players has a broken wrist.

Also, I'm pretty sure it is a crime if I walk up to someone on the street and trip them on purpose.

Assault comes to mind, if injury occurs, assault causing bodily harm.

If there's a broken wrist, I'll take back what I said but from the video, both kids pop up pretty damn fast, one confronting the asshole and the other skating away.

There is a broken wrist, and the RCMP have recommended charges be filed.
