Fuck you and fix your POS truck. Safeties are there for a reason - so your POS truck doesn't kill me or a kid.

Newsflash jackson, unless you know the mechanic personally, it will be very hard to find a Class A mechanic who will issue you a bogus certificate. First off, if caught, he'll be in a shit load of trouble, but more to the point, he'll know that he is liable for the repairs to said vehicle.

If a mechanic safetys a car, he's on the hook for it for the period of the safety. You sell the POS of truck to Joe Blow as a safety'd vehicle. Joe Blow discovers it needs new brakes, new brake lines, windshield wiper motor and a muffler. Joe Blow then takes it back to the bogus mechanic and says, "here, you safety'd it, all this is wrong, now fix it on your dime"

Any mechanic would have to be a fool to do what you're thinking you can get him to do.

Mechanic s are liable for safety for 33 days after purchase . false safeties will cost you 80.00 to 150.00 , its the etest thats hard money 250.00 plus , havent had a real safety in years , but you still need brakes tires lights , steering ect in proper order , and what the big concern is that if you wreck or have a accident , insurance will look real hard at your car and see if there is any mechincal issues that will fuck you and let them avoid paying . Plus it would be a real shame if you wiped out Captian Kirk . who would pilot the Enterprise , and call you names .

fuck i got about 3 different guys i go to for a dirty cert. they all know and trust me that i will have the truck up to spec within a week or 3 and their license won't be on the line. if i tell them it is just minor stuff (e brake, cracked windshield, etc..) i am not gonna fix it and they know it. when you get an estimated repair bill of 2,000$ odds are there is some serious mechanical issues with the truck and it shouldn't be on the road.

i also know a guy that can get me a dirty e-test if i need it but i don't.

like i said in the thread last week i was looking at buying a truck. i went and bought the truck, called my guy and had the cert waiting for me when i got back to brampton from scarb. went and flipped it to my name and did all that shitty paperwork. a week later i put 1300$ into it to bring it back to where it needs to be for a safe ride. if you are going to do a dirty cert you need to be able to fix the ride regardless or you are putting yourself and others at risk.

Its not my truck, just trying to help my brother out. The trucks been a daily driver for the last 6 years, family member owned it,a nd just recently passed away. I have no idea whats wrong with it, but the garages estimate was for parts and labour.

these guys are basically on the same line as drug dealers only less jail time if caught. if i told you a guy to go to that was one of the guys i went to, he would tell you that he has no idea what you are talking about and would tell me to go fuck myself next time i talked to him. so like i said a mart person would not hand over the info you are looking for. however i can give you a tip and i am not saying it to be racist but go look for a garage owned and operated by east indians, not all but some of them have little if an regard for the rules and would rather make a buck with no work than having to work for it.

you don't know the guy your gonna pay double what the safety is worth. i get them for 60$.

Why don't you just try buying less shitty vehicles?

Alberta doesn't require safety certificates. I don't think they are out of control.
AFAIK certificates are only required on sale/ownership change so you can still drive a dangerous wreck until le pulls you over and dictates an inspection.
The clean air test is bogus as there is a ceiling as to what you have to pay to get it fixed.
Most people would behave as the posters above, and fix any dangerous shortcomings.
Those that wouldn't will find a way around it anyway as evidenced by the OP.
We don't need laws and taxes to legislate every aspect of common sense.

i drive my car twice a month. how much money would you like me to spend on it ? i just got a ride that is worth 5k for 1200$ then i put another 1200$ into and i could flip it right now and make 2500$ on it. would you like me to go to a dealer and buy something for 30k drive it twice a month and lose money on it ? your plan is flawed.
