I am pointing out that the number of domestic murders (45%)is close to the number of gang related murders(55%) so why aren't we up in arms about all the kids and wives being killed?
First, who said we're not up in arms about it? It is a dishonest and failed argument to try and pretend blacks are not a problem just because there's other crime out there.

Second those percentages are deceptive. Blacks are only about 8% of the population yet they're responsible for 75% of the violence in Toronto. The rest of the murders are out of 92% of the population. In short, the rate of violence by everybody else is quite low, considering it's everybody else. Blacks are committing acts of violence WAY, WAY, WAY out of proportion with their numbers.

We will always have some crime. When 8% of the population is responsible for 75% of the crime, though, it's impossible to deny that that group is the biggest problem.

Because culture and community mean two differnt things to me

Culture is all encompassing and community is specific to one area.

THAT 75% is not all black it represents nationwide.

OK. So we have a community that has a culture of violence, meaning, it glorifies violence, its music is all about crime and violence, its members go about dressed up as gangsters, and talking shit. And this community that has a culture of violence turns out to be responsible for 75% of the violence in this city.

Yet you don't think it's culture...

And for the record I never said let the blacks off the hook or ignore their crimes.

I am saying look at the bigger picture..... crime is a problem and to focus on one race is stupid.

I mean sure if all you care about is gun violence in toronto great but no offense I'd rather my money go to addressing crime on a bigger scale.

You're right it's probably an even higher percentage in Toronto. Certainly when you look at the police blotter it looks to me like 75% of the violence or more is perpetrated by the 8% of blacks in this city.

It's not stupid to focus on race, when one race is the primary problem, as is the case in Toronto. It's stupid NOT to focus on race, in that case. A focus on race does not need to be racist, but we do need to understand why blacks in Toronto are committing so much of this violence, and what can be done to stop them.

Again it's the black toronto community not the black culture

And again I know it's hard because I gave you the stats so it's my fault if you misinterpret them but 75% of urban murders are gang related but that includes cities other than toronto with different racial make ups so you can't make the conclusion that blacks are responsible for 75% of the crime.

The statistics show that it's the black community in Toronto that is the problem. Statistics further show that the cause is not poverty. Common sense then tells you that the reason why is cultural.

Go beyond toronto and it quickly becomes other races AS WELL. I am not saying ignore the blacks but include the others.

I'm not misinterpreting them. Go to the TPS site and look at the blotter, under news releases, "majors", and count how many of the perpetrators they are searching for are black. 75% is probably low for Toronto, the overwhelming majority of our violent crime is perpetrated by blacks, and when it comes to murders, the victims are usually black as well.

You do understand that poverty is just one of many factors right? It's not the only one for crime. Otherwise we could all send cops home and up welfare payouts. :)

No, if you go beyond Toronto it becomes ONE OTHER race as well. Blacks and natives between them have a lock on violent crime in this country.

Is it a coincidence that the two racial groups which faced historic oppression are, in the modern world, now the two biggest problems? I doubt it. But it's not just poverty and socio economic effects. Both groups bring poverty on themselves by making really, really poor life choices apparently for cultural reasons. Both groups spend a lot of time resenting the wrongs of hundreds of years ago, and figuring that the world owes them something. Both turn to crime and violence in larger numbers than any of the socio economic factors justify.

So what's that, if it isn't culture?

Certainly in other major centers with a high black population you have a high crime rate. You just have to broaden your analysis to look south of the border. Blacks in the US are also disproportionately committing crimes. Probably for the same historic cultural reasons, in fact, probably even more so. I'd even say that the glorification of violence in black culture is something that we imported into Canada from the U.S., although certainly it came from Jamaica as well.

Nice Dens
Jesus Christ Boys!! Fuji is suggesting that in the GTA blacks are over represented in serious criminal acts in comparison to the percent of their population. Fuji is correct. FC is suggesting that nation wide blacks are committing a small percentage of serious criminal acts in comparison to their percent of the population. FC is correct.

This thread was initiated by the shootings at the Eaton Centre which is in the GTA, so I declare (fuck I will regret this later) Fuji the winner. GB

Where have you been living, under a rock? Go look at the crime blotters for Winnipeg or Edmonton's police department. Or maybe you never lived out West?

Our small towns do not have raging crime problems so if you broaden your analysis to them, you'll find mostly domestic crimes. When you look at urban centers you'll find that the violence is being committed by blacks and natives. In Toronto we don't have many natives.

Wow. To blame poverty on bad choices.

With crime i suggest that it is a multiracial problem with many factors

With poverty it is a multifaceted problem.

What makes you qualified to comment on the black and aboriginal problems.

If only you were the chief making decisions we would all be making it rain wampum while hoochies make it clap.

To be honest my problem is that you make deliberate overly broad blanket statements and never back any of it up. The only thing we agree on is that blacks do most of the shooting in Toronto.

Anyways can we just agree to disagree.
