Anyone worry about losing their job from hobbying?

When I read threads like this, I ask myself what would ever make anyone think of this question? Wink, wink, nod, nod, say no more, say no more. It should be an interesting read.
For himself it's OK. For his subordinates he can still be a hypocrite.don't worry, your boss was just here and said he is okey with it
Frankly I think it shouldn't matter WHO you are.....the Yanks are SUCH hypocrites. Do as I say, not as I do. The US is the largest consumer and producer of porn but hey, don't show a bare tit on tv, don't use the word "shit" on TV, don't put your dick in anyone, I mean gimme a break...really.
Hell, it was widely known at the last company I worked for that the GM hobbied so.....

I love how fast these threads go political. What the hell does Harper's government and the excellent work they do on our behalf have to do with the OP's original question??
That wasn't a political statement just a fast and dirty list of major hypocrites. I could have said the Vatican, car salesman, lawyers, insurance salesman, school board members, but I said Harpo and company.
Unless you have a job with some sort of strict (enforceable) morals code...so maybe a teacher at a very religious private school...or you are a minister (but with what Catholic priests get away perhaps not) what would the grounds be for dismissal by your employer? Jealousy is NOT grounds for dismissal!! :-}
You might not get dismissed, but try and get the next promotion, unless their of the same ilk. I won't tell if you won't.
Unfortunately, not everybody thinks the same as you. On the other hand, there is a university in Alabama that will gladly hire you even if you have a history of killing your brother and might potentially kill some of your fellow professors in a meeting (as long as sex isn't involved). Adam Giambrone got caught and might lose his job. Adam should have simply said he is gay and he would have been untouchable.
here's that hypocrasy again: even if they ARE of the same ilk they still might pass you over for a promotion because others might know of your hobbying and if aren't passed over, they might wonder.......
tboy, are you hinting at blackmail? Some companies have a "morals clause" because they are concerned that their employees might be vulnerable to blackmail and give up company secrets. Not sure that a morals clause is even legal. In fact, it was only about 50 years ago that a bank employee needed his manager's permission to marry.
In some companies there is a strict policy forbidding sleeping with the boss or even a fellow consenting co-worker.
Here is the other side of the coin. Can your employer fire you if they discover you are an SP on your own time and off company premises? Some companies feel that your behaviour 24/7 reflects on the company itself. Remember when Minister Coates got fired because he was seen outside a German SC?
