lol well its sacrificing now for a better future. btw you can have a nice place without buying a house, you can fuck girls without making them your gf and buying them gifts, you can have a nice car without buying brand new, how about 2 or 3 years old? I just live well within my means. being in a serious relationship is the biggest thing to hold you back from getting rich unless she has the same mentality. case in point one of my buddies whos married followed my advice and made some money in the stock market, I told him to buy this next stock that could up his money 10x over the next year but his wife made him take out the money and spend it on some bs. alot of ppl have the mentality that once your done school in your 20's you have now reached your potential and youre supposed to settle down...thats a crock of shit. im nowhere near where I want to be im hungry. eventually id like to leave canada and move to asia, live on the beach in thailand or somethingmay I ask: why bother trying to get rich if you can live happily without good clothes, good cars, restaurants, houses and women anyway?
youre right, there is more to life than money...but ppl seem to think life is a hollywood movie. all I do is run into men above 45 and they all have divorce horror stories, meanwhile ppl my age and abit older are all thinking with their hearts and not their brain. ive come to the realization its going to be very hard for me to find a woman I want to get serious with, I want a girl with my mentality and they are very rare. also, lets not forget she has to be ok with the whole screwing other women bit lol....so its a tall order. I have good friends and family that I love they are important to me.. another option for me is to marry a simple minded woman who treats her man like a king, and believes a womans role is to take care of the household, cook & clean, please her husband....that would work. anyway, right now my priority is to get rich its all I think aboutRespect my friend - you're doing well. Make your 20's pay. I know many a person who wasted their 20's taking drugs etc and and now in their 30's and 40's and don't have a pot to piss in...but remember there's more to life than money!
Learn to spell. It's "how'd", a contraction of "how" and "did".Simple question
Howd you get so rich?
I know we're not all rolling in dough but I know quite a few people on this board are doing VERY well for themselves.
So howd you do it? Spend half your life in school? Win the lottery? Play the stock market? Marry rich?
Share your stories... I'm looking for some inspiration here~
now that makes a lot of sense to me.eventually id like to leave canada and move to asia, live on the beach in thailand or something
Phoenix and Las Vegas were two of the hardest hit markets in the US housing crash. The good news is that they have both seemed to have hit bottom in terms of months of inventory for sale and sale price per sq ft. Phoenix as an example is between $70-$80 per sq foot for your standard planned community 3-5 BR house in a suburb. Yup, that's right... a 3000 sq ft house going for under $250K. If you have some cash and can stand to hold onto the property for 5 years, there's alot of money to be made.Any thoughts about US real estate.. particularily in the southern US (Arizona, Las Vegas, Florida..)?
u.s. real estate still has more to fall. but if youre american a great way to short the usd is to buy a house with a 30 year 3.5% mortgage like you can get today, putting down roughly 5%. inflation will eat away at your debtPhoenix and Las Vegas were two of the hardest hit markets in the US housing crash. Yup. Way to go simcity.Your last sentence speaks volumes.Doesn't matter weather your a small family company or a huge multi-national.
Good for you.Respect!
I admire people who have come from nothing and I hate losers (ie, people who've had chances in life (schooling and up bringing in the west, family support etc) and wasted their life). I had to wait till 31 to make my first million. At 25 had 0.25 million, at 28 hit rock bottom due to a few rotten life events and bounced back.
Only other difference is I never finished high school (and I am a white collar worker) and my father earned 65k upon retirement. Best year for me was last year ($300k) which is great for me (considering my background) but is peanuts for others - respect to them though if they work for it.
What I've learned is 'you win a few, lose a few but keep on fighting'.

I did read posts to him for about 2 weeks while he drove during a road trip. Now I wander in a few times a month when bored; most often when I cannot sleep.Reader's digest version of her "story"

To me #5 is bad advice. While I don't want my parents to squander their money, I view it as 100% their money. I don't want them to forgo any enjoyment just so they can leave me some of it. I have made that clear. They came though for me, were good parents and I feel they no longer should have any obligations. Of course I will advise against rip offs and fraudsters, because I want to protect them. I think in this case karma rules over the pocket.5. Make sure your parents don't squander your inheritance.
