Who knows what I'm talking about?;)

DicAnns is an acquired taste that appeals to cab drivers and truck drivers. They were around 50 years plus even before the big chains moved on. To give you an idea of what a DicAnn burger is. Imagine a home fried hamburger patty swimming in tomato sauce on a bun.

In Quebec, there is a greasy spoon restaurant chain called LaBelle Province. They serve steamies ( steamed hot dogs ) hamburgers, fries, poutine, souvlaki and a sort of second rate smoked meat sandwich. They will even serve you up a pouine on a 9 in. plate piled 4 inches high with cheese curds and sauce, topped off with chopped smoked meat.

Some of these poutine places are open 24 hours a day, if you show up for breakfast this is what you will get.

Lafleurs put brown sugar in their fryers to make the fries nasty.

Bigger than Peter's At Eglinton?
Peters on Eglinton has out of hand portions, mind you there prices have gone up. Zets is great fro 24hrs but the best souvlaki in Mississauga is Astoria Dundas rd east of Dixie. There is also one on the danforth.

wow, I forgot just how good their burgers are. Ordered a double whopper w/ onion rings, fries and a chocolate shake to wash it all down. Delish! One thing I really like about BK is that they're always generous with the toppings. I also don't feel so guilty after getting extra lettuce, tomato, etc since more veggies = healthier burger.
You're joking right? Big chain burgers are all steroid and antibiotic filled mystery meat. Just try asking them to cook it medium rare.

My money is on a Stockyards burger. Ground fresh everyday so you can order it medium rare. I love the Animal and Green Chili Pimento Cheese Burger. Yum!!!

Ottawa ON
A local (Ottawa) chain which I think is moving into the Toronto Market is called the WORKS. Has close to 100 choices for your burger, including some crazy stuff like Peanut Butter and Kraft Dinner! Anyways, the burgers are huge and quite tasty!

I do recommend! (but not with the Peanut Butter or KD!)

For quality, the backyard BBQ
For quick quality Harveys or A&W but only the Uncle burger no mayo [wtf]
For something cheap nothing beats the McD double hamburger. $1.46 of get er done.
At the most only Ketchup, Mustard and at McD Onions. I want to be able to taste the food.

When I am in the area, the roast beef burgers at Tally Ho in West end Hamilton past Mac. I would kill your own mother for one of those.

Milkshakes, Harveys among the fast food crowd.

For Fries, you have to go to your local Chip stand, but of the choices McDs are the only ones vaguely worth eating.

I think Licks has diminished due to high pricing.
Who is the blond chick with the boob smacking. She looks a bit like "Ember" from various things, but I am sure it isn't her.

Crawling along St Claire the other day and saw Stockyard. Went in and tried their burger and fries. burger was good but the double cooked fries weren't. Hey, to each his own. There was a couple sitting next to me eating the fried chicken dinner for two and it looked good especially served in the hot iron skillet. I wathc the cook in action and they do double fry almost everything. As far as the service, it's a tiny dinner with one waitress in the middle of the afternoon and was packed, but I was in and out in 30/45 minutes. In my mind, smashing the rounded burger down with a flat iron, hence the name 'Smash Burgers' packs the meat to much for a proper burger. Real bread bun though, nit that spon floured marshmallow you get in BK, Macs and Wendy's.

Would I go again, sure, but won't order the fries.
