Find out if Bell Fibe is available in your area. I've had it for a year after cancelling Rogers, and it is awsome. I'v got all channels , high speed internet, and land line for $225. month. I was paying Rogers $35. more a month for less. For TV the HD quality is far superior, digital pvr, and extra box for 2nd tv included. You can record pause watch different recorded shows on each tv. etc. Rogers is trying to catch up with what they call "nextbox"..but more expensive. Last month they upgraded units to be able to record 3 HD shows at same time. During the upgrade you couldnt watch tv. When I called to query they gave me a $25. credit. Never got a cent from Rogrs for lousy service.

To the OP....call Rogers back....tell them you want them to pull the recording from when you they said they'd upgrade you for free....don't go to the dumb agent's manager...they're just as stupid....go above that. Tell them you want proof of what you had agreed to in order to stay with them so you want to that recording to be pulled. They don't have it....cancel without fees as they HAVE to provide that recording!!! Never talk to the 'managers' that the agents pass you to (assuming they actually do pass you to them). They're nothing...and have no real clout and are just bigger idiots than the agents. Find the email address to the 'office of the president' and write a polite but firm letter expressing your disappointment and how you feel they lied to you! You'll get results. I bitched to Bell about my bill....and I pay less than I would even with Teksavvy. I need to start a business on how to deal with Bell, Rogers, Cogeco, Telus...etc. Trust me....you can win.
Ditto with Bell. And they own the only physical infrastructure there is, which is what TekSavvy and the others are stuck with.
Never mind the pricing for theoretical throughputs, what I don't see enough of is stuff about what actually shows up on your screen. And how fast and at what times. Where I am on Bell I can set clocks by the businesses booting up and logging on in the AM and the kids coming home to Facebook in the afternoon. The Bell tech who re-wired me, said all they work to is a minimal 65k throughput, and that's about what I was getting.
Subjectively speaking speeds were much faster back when I first signed up for Sympatico, and Bell ran commercials mocking slow cable-internet neighbourhoods, but they clearly did not use their time to upgrade their system to be able to keep up that standard.
Acanac like tekksavvy is an alternative to Rogers and Bell.

Every time i get a better offer from one of Roger's competitors whether it be Bell or whoever, i phone Rogers to tell them this and that unless they can match it, i will be cancelling my account with them. This invariably prompts the sales dept. to provide me with the same offer in order to keep me as a customer. I have done this on multiple occasions and have rec'd numerous discount packages with them. Also be advised that these deals are not advertised to the general public! Their sales dept. has some discretion when offering or providing a discount on services. If however, you don't get satisfaction with a sales rep, ask to speak to the manager and i guarantee you'll get a decent offer.

I have fibe25 from bell.... Special deal... $34.95 a month.... 25 Down / 7 Up speed. 120 gig cap ...... $5 for 40 gig more bandwidth.
I managed to get extreme plus at a 70% discount, thru retention. I told them i had no money and needed a cheaper alternative thru teksavvy. had to sign for 3 years, but i'm fine with that. Yes, there was some money problems for the first few months (taking more than they should), but i just called them and they fixed it.

You should have told them that you were getting a better deal with TekSavvy without a long-term contract....and they would have given this to you on a 1-year contract. I hate long-term contracts so I do everything I can to avoid them. fyi....watch your modem rental fees go up....that's not contracted so they will raise it. But, when they do, you have an option of opting out of the contract....threaten to do so....and watch them waive your modem fees for the rest of the contract.
