This is a followup to my previous thread regarding Rogers charging me $60+ dollars for internet over-usage on top of the $46 I was already paying for internet. I thought I'd give them another chance after the sales person talked me into staying with them by promising to upgrade my internet from Express to a tier higher (Extreme $62 dollar package) for free. They told me I'd get this deal for 12 months.

However, after getting charged $60+ for over usage again for another two months, I logged into my online account for the first time to check my monthly usage and noticed that the fucking thieves, instead of giving me the full upgrade Express package as promised (28 Mbps download speed and 120 GB) when I was about to cancel internet service with them, gave me an Express package without all the extras it was supposed to come with. On my online account, it says my package has only 18 Mbps download speed and 80 GB. (instead of the 28 Mbps download speed and 120 GB an Express package is supposed to come with)

fucking thieves!!! pisses me off! I got cheated again on top of the three months I had to pay $150+ for overusage

I shouldn't have listened to the salesperson and should've just cancelled my account. I'd love to say 'FUCK YOU!' to the next Rogers salesperson I talk to who tries to upsell me again.

To Teksavvy it is now!

I'm surprised you still use Rogers for internet. Teksavvy...good choice. One seller asked me the same thing. Told her I'm with Teksavvy and told her the plan I have. 300 gig 10mbps (which I'm fine with)...If she has one that's even close I'd take. Long pause then we said our goodbyes (politely).

Teksavvy doesn't care about bandwidth usage. They count bandwidth up or down, I'm not sure which, but not both. I run bit torrents 24/7, and I've never been charged for extra usage.

Two negatives to consider if switching to Teksavvy:

You'll need to buy a new modem. You can't use a Rogers Cable modem for DSL.

If you don't have telephone service through Bell, (land line? Not sure if this matters), you'll have to pay $10/ month for a "dry loop". It's a fee you pay to Teksavvy, who forward the funds to Bell, for the use of their wiring.

yes, i'm stupid... after all the Teksavvy recommendations, I still chose to stick with Rogers after the so-called upgrade and discount they had promised me. Basically, I was still paying them the same amount of money for something I did not receive.

I live in the Richmond Hill area... Is Teksavvy a good option for this area? What packages do you all use?

Yeah.. I don't mind buying a new modem.. I guess I could offset that cost by choosing a lower package than what I'm currently paying with rogers ($47 + taxes, not to forget the $180 I've already had to pay extra for due to three months of overcharge which I did not use)

I have a bell phone line so that's a plus too ... fucking Rogers customer rep tried to get me to convert to their phone line again today.

What else do I need to have/know about Teksavvy? Is the High Speed DSL 6 Lite - $29.99 with typical DSL sufficient?

Actually, if you don't have a land-line (telephone or television) you will have to pay not just the 'dry-loop' charge monthly, but also for the installation of whichever flavour of wiring you elect your Teksavvy internet to arrive on.

Teksavvy sells cable internet as well, depending on location.

Most people think the only way to get TV these days is to pay Rogers or Bell... the fact is now that all the TV stations have gone digital you can get really high quality ... better then Rogers! TV FREE !!!!!!!!!! right out of the air with an antenna.
A company called V&E Antenna installed my Antenna last year and it's been GREAT!

Buying your own modem is a positive. Rogers and Bell charge you rental fee for their modem.

I got rid of my Rogers home phone a couple of years ago, last month got rid of cable TV (use OTA HD antenna, get 14 channels).

Going to miss the live sports channels like TSN, Sportsnet but better than paying $100/month for cable TV.

I only now have the express internet package and knowing Rogers they'll start increasing a couple of bucks every year or so...

How long have you guys been with Teksavvy, and are they reliable? How much do you Pay?
I've been with Teksavvy for 2 years, and I had no problems. Bell was charging me $30 extra per month for over usage. When they bumped it up to $60, I said the hell with them.

Bell and Rogers really need to be restrained......they have colluded and have a strangle hold on telecommunications in Canada , and they are fucking us ruthlessly

I switched from Rogers to Bell 5 months ago and am very happy... pay now half as much as Robers and it's faster... no matter the time of day it's rock solid. I have the Fibe25 deal for $34.95 a month... 25Mbit down and 7Mbit upload... 120 gig cap... $5 for 40 gig more... I find this reasonable.

I want to ditch my Robers cell too... going to go with the 7-11 plan ... buy a SIM for $10 and port my Robers number over> Then I'll be once and forall Robers FREE!

I'm so furious after how they cheated me... gonna make it my personal mission to convince any people I come across to ditch rogers.
