Adopt a child on World Vision and scan the receipt and PM it to me, and I will accept your request to be friends on Terb.

Any preference as to our Terb child? ( jk)

I also would have to protect my privacy. But you wouldn't tell on a friend anyway right.

Might I recommend white-out?

Interesting side note, which I had forgotten about until I saw the obits the other day for Monkees singer Davy Jones.

Did you know that Michael Nesmith, also of the Monkees, was the son of the woman who invented "white out," or liquid paper as I think it was more commonly called.

I guess I'm now guilty of derailing my own thread.

Will that do?
For a person who has some very negative views on people who are on welfare, sure has interesting things to say. Are you trying to improve your image? Now that you retired from your previous occupation as an SP are you trying to make others believe that you are some kind of philanthropist? A person such as yourself who self proclaims to to be a "nouveau riche" becomes a nouveau trash at the end of the day. Why not donate to Sick Kids Hospital? The money you donate, will go into research and finding cures for many different types of illness. And a huge tax break for your husband's income tax.

I can see a difference between a second or tird generation welfare recipiant and a child staring to death. Are you hving trouble doing that?

Sorry, you seem to have missed the conversation completely. What I choose to support and not is none of your business :)

If the poster want me to accept him as a cyber friend, and he cares, I told him to pay for it. Maybe I am a whore at heart? And if he is paying for it I get to select the charity :)

I admitted after a lot of noise that I was a Nouveau Riche, since it seemed important to some of you guys that I do that. I also provided the quote saying we are not rich, just comfortable. You really need to get over your money envy thing.

I see no reason to give money to your favourite charity. I have one, but thank you for your advice.

Just for the record, as someone recently exposed to the Canadian system I must admit I dislike your application of welfare/social assistance/charity.

Talk to any emergency Dr over drinks and ask them what percentage of the time there is spent on Canadian welfare people and how serious the complaints they present with are.

I was told that once a person spends 10 years on welfare their chance of escaping drops to almost zero. If a child is born to a welfare mother and stays on welfare for a few years, they are unlikely to ever escape it.

I guess I am a negative perception of people who are on welfare for decades. I have a VERY negative perception of how Canada deals with those here who need help. I have an even more negative perception of the knee jerk reaction about it some Canadians seem to demonstrate.

I respect Wordvision.com and think that they have a far more realistic approach. I find a man who gives a school or clinic to a village that has nothing is doing more than a the average Canadian tax payer. I guess clean water and wells are equally desirable, but I cannot associate with them at an emotional level.

If you're ok with supporting terrorism, than you go ahead and do it.

But with less publicity :).

And for me it would be "A woman and her goats" ;)
Don't you think it would be a heck of an adventure to go with a camera crew and track down where your goat(s) went???

Fingers-crossed that you don't find them in a pot of stew ::Eek:

(okay, that was mean - for the record (and less informed readers) they're used for milk 10 months of the year and only slaughtered when old/sick/injured)

I wish you had a little better understanding of the world outside you neighbourhood.

Maybe you can draw a closer link for me :). How does this relate to sponsoring orphans in other parts of the world?

While you are at it, even if I did target my goats to land in that part of the world; do you think starving children there are less worthy because they had the misfortune of being born there? Do you know any better way to help them?

I don't know, but the Palestinian's might be attaching bombs in attempt to blow up the Israel? If that were to happen, can we call the goats "suicide goat bombers"? I'm sure there will be a movie about it. Coming soon to a theatre near you.

If they are my goats, that would be:

"Men who Stare at the legs of highly trained suicidal goat gorillas"

Of course there is a better way of helping them. It's called education. You see, a person with money will buy the poor fish to eat. A smart person will teach the poor how to fish. Of all people, I thought you knew that.

Not likely. From what I know of Twitter and the like, the Kardashians are willing to be my friend without requiring me to show receipts that I give to charity. :p
