Toronto had a competent scene as some of the posts show. The Ugly Ducklings did get some success.

I am posting one here because I just do not know how to categorize it. But, when I went to school, there was a guy near us who NEVER went to a single class, and he would spin tunes, this one many times. It has its own uniqueness.

Love the Talking Heads and their later solo spin off stuff.

They have a fantastic concert film that I saw in theatre but now is in DVD called "Stop Making Sense." The live version of take me to the river will blow you out of your chair.

Plus great classics like Burning Down the House of Life During Wartime...great stuff.

Could have sworn I heard David Byrne doing a new tune on the radio last week.

That would be good news. Will have to look into that. He went a little "spanish" for me for a while, but his voice and lyrics are great.

I guess one whole album of South American dance music (rumba, mambo etc.) in the late 80's could be considered "a while". BTW, Rei Momo was an excellent album.

His last two albums have been collaborations with 1) Brian Eno and 2) Fatboy Slim, a double disc rock opera about Imelda Marcos. Enjoyed both of them immensely.

I consider David Byrne a genius. BTW, are Talking Heads one hit wonders or makers of garage classics. WTF is a garage classic anyway?

The Talking Heads were for sure not a one hit wonder.

Garage Classic is music from almost any decade that was influential, innovative, or fesh, especially to other musicians. May or may have not been popular. I tried to explain... somone else could do a better job, I am sure.

Will try and give example of each.

Saw the Comfortably Numb show in Toronto on Sat. They floored me how good they were. Was taken there for a surprise, so that was really neat.
