Tonight the Leafs host Minny Wild.
Minny have dropped from the penthouse to the outhouse(as in out of the playoffs) in almost record time. They have gone 2-14 in their fall from grace. Here is hoping the Leafs take advantage.
From the deja vu department, similar to last night's Raps/Celtics in that both teams were on five game losers, both the Leafs and Wild are on three games losers. Let us hope it ends better for the locals tonight.
Minnesota, Montreal on HNIC, then back to back vs the Islanders. All four winnable games.

We won the battle for number 9. We're number 9, we're number 9! That was a crappy goal that spoiled the shutout.
Leafs pick up a much needed win. 4-1 over Minnesota.
Kessel scores and Lupul gets three assists. lol. After being broken up Connolly and Lupul set up Kessel on the PP.
As mentioned, the Wild were just what the doctor ordered for the Leafs.
Next three, Saturday night vs Montreal, followed a couple of days later by a home and home with the Islanders.

First result on Kessel / Lupul split experiment went well. Kessel played with Lombardi and they looked good together. Lombardi is rounding into form and he can skate with Kessel.
A multiple goal game from Kessel would be great on HNIC Saturday.

Agreed the Leafs looked listless tonight. Whose fault? Hard to say unless you're in the dressing room.
Leafs played hard the previous two games so I guess Wilson gets good coaching credit for those.
I do agree, if they don't make the playoffs it will be time for a change but mid to late season upheaval is usually not beneficial.

Ouch. As if taking a hit to the playoff hopes is not enough the Leafs lose to a bunch of losers, as described by a Montreal player.

Ga-damn did the Leafs ever look slow and uninterested. They were not too bad in their own end, turnovers aside, but in the Montreal zone it was like they expected Montreal to roll over.
Back to back against the Islanders who, of course, are playing better of late.
I do not know what to expect tonight. I would rather the home and home go the other way, road first.
Is this exactly what the Leafs need ? A team below them, with weak goaltending and one line.
Or is it what the Islanders need ? A team in the Leafs who may be on the brink, could go either way. The Leafs could blow up and drop both of these games. These two games could be the entire season.
Anyway, we will get to see Tavares over the next two nights. I just hope there are not too many JT hi lights.
