Do you want hens in your backyard? Do you want hens in your neighbours' backyards?
I already have hens - and a rooster to make them happy, and keep them in line.

LOL!
Why?
Who moved in next door with a bunch of chickens that are making it hard for you to relax on your porch?....:eyebrows:

Had a neighbor in Florida with chickens, The hens weren't too bad but the damn roosters were a pain in the ass at the crack of dawn. One Sunday morning all was quiet. I guess Mr. Rooster lost his Saturday night bout.

Ah...the memories. I grew up in a rural area and we always had free range chickens. They had a coop but wandered around picking away eating bugs and seeds. We did feed them every day, but in the summer they didn't need much. The eggs were unbelievable - yokes were a deep, rich orange that tasted far superior to anything in the store. Any baked goods, pancakes or omeletes were far superior and noticably better tasting.

We also raised large capons for eating - same thing. Their skin is a dark orange and meat was much richer. People could not beleive how much better they tasted.

In Florida there are many Cuban Americans that keep chickens in the back yard. Sometimes they escape. Many cities in Florida have street chicken catchers to catch the escaped birds.

What is the difference between a chicken and a capon?

Capon is a castrated rooster.

In Miami lots gays carry Roosters around as a status symbol.

A capon is a castrated rooster.
The Romans are credited with inventing the capon. The Lex Faunia of 162 BC forbade fattening hens in order to conserve grain rations. In order to get around this the Romans castrated roosters, which resulted in a doubling of size.

In the USA many corporation hire capons for management positions.
They like big chubby guys who crow a lot......:eyebrows:

I grew up on a farm with all kinds of animals

But within a city like Toronto they can be a problem and some people can be very negligent in their animal husbandry and stuff gets out of control very quickly that would affect neighbours negatively packed into such close quarters of a city.
