It means that you want somebody else to make your decisions for you and that you may have a death wish!
More like you look to others for answers to questions you don't know the answer to. We have others making decisions for us all the time. That what Parliament and the legal system do all the time. As for the death wish, huh?

Follow christ and where do you end up: nailed to cross and slowly dying in agony and filth.
Considering how many christians there are or have been and the numbers who have ended up crucified, especially these days, I think Christian are safe these days. Back in the day, there were also many who were crucified who weren't christian. Some reports have 6000 being crucified just for being followers of Spartucus, not a Christian.

My point being that if you are going to follow christ, do it properly, to the end!!

I would think it would be a challenge to get crucified for being a Christian these days.
If you are a good christian, I'm sure you can find a way to be a true follower. "Where there's a will; there's a way!"

.... and the end being crucified? The point is a lot of others were crucified even before Christianity was on the radar, not exclusive to Christians, and not the norm or the goal of Christians. Did you pull the wing off of flies when you were a kid?

Except the bible doesn't say "go forth and get crucified", it says Jesus did it once for everyone.

Being a true follower does not mean you should seek to get crucified. But you already knew that.

I thought the goal was to follow christ; maybe just the easy parts; not the more difficult experiences. Sounds like a human approach?

What's the bible got to do with anything. It's simply the selected jibberish of some old men from ancient history. If a true follower doesn't follow christ , who do they follow? Again only selected actions are followed??

Technically, no. Being Christian usually means believing that Jesus was the son of god etc.

While there is a high correlation between parents and children's religion, there are plenty of converts who are not from Christian backgrounds.
True, there are some who move to different faiths for whatever reason

But the vast overwhelming majority of a given faith believe in and follow for no other reason than that's the way they were brought up.

But you're right, believing that Jesus was the son of God would by definition would make you a Christian.

My point is that belief systems are not objective, but entirely based on one's background.

I still never understood what meant.

I once asked on another forum and the answer that made most sense to me was that Jesus knew full well that he and his teachings would be rejected by many and that he would have to pay with is life to get the message across.

But that was challenged by others with different interpretations and then Christopher Hitchens was dragged into it an the thread kind of drifted off from there.
