Well then, I say kudos to Obama for not being afraid to bite the hand that feeds him in the pursuit of doing the right (not right wing) thing.

My guess is that whiney slobs that just sit around with their hand out and blame everyone else are gutting America more than globalism. Fuck now I sound like the reverse image of Woody....God help me lol.
You know choo-choo you must be a dittohead on an OxyContin stupor to say that! Several millions of Americans were doing just fine before the Globalists you 'bottom' for sent their jobs to the commies YOU pal around with! You goofballs promised Globalism would create better jobs than those YOU offshored to your commie pals. My question IS where are all those new jobs YOU corporate bootlicking clowns promised???
If YOU can't see this problem YOU are even more stupid than JAJA!!!....

Is the cost of health care factored into this? It has more than doubled in the last ten years. Is the cost of housing? The cost of higher education? Middle class wages have remained stagnant over the last decade, forgetting for a moment about the people who don't even have jobs or who have settled for part time. If the things I mentioned are not factored in, and I could probably think of others, than in answer to your question I would say, yes. A person only making $1000 more in real dollars from ten years ago is effectively poorer.
LMAO.......

Actually the "real" controls for inflation.....

Try again, or you could just go with "fine" again....

No, but we may need some lessons on democracy and listening to the will of the people.
In the last year we had federal, municipal and civic elections. Seems to me that democracy works and the will of the people is being heard just fine. Maybe the majority of people just don't care as much as you do if others are poor.

The consumer price index does not include the costs of buying a new house, or any investment in real estate. It uses an index of what a house might rent for. It doesn't accurately reflect increasing costs in health care as people age, and there has been some talk of having a seperate CPI for older Americans. And as the BLS admits some categories, education for example, are dificult to fully estimate. Also the BLS has changed it's methodology in calculating CPI, which some economists believe is now underestimating the true rate of inflation. Meanwhile the poverty rate is at it's highest level in 20 years and the median household income, adjusted for inflation, has remained flat for the longest time since the Great Depression. You seem to be giving me the old "rising tide lifts all boats" cliche. It's BS. We are starting to become two nations economically.

Pure bullshit.... you should have the class to capitulate when you don't have a point. Go back to that chart and tell me who's situation had deteriorated... perhaps Cain is correct, this is simply jealously by whiners.....

Let me ask you some questions. Do you agree that those living below the poverty line continues to rise and is at levels not seen since the early-mid 1990's and growing? Do you agree that over the last decade real income for the middle class has been flat? Do you agree that wealth in this country is increasingly being accumulated by a relative few? Now, assuming you acknowledge all that, is that in your opinion a healthy state of affairs for the economy?

The link is to one of your favorite publications. The data is taken from the government. It's not pure bullshit, OTB. It's reality. People are hurting. Maybe not in your neighborhood. You don't get it, don't care, and I doubt you ever will.

We are starting to become two nations economically.
I always thought the "two nations" are the public sector workers with their high wages, job security and rich pensions and the private sector workers who actually create that wealth and financially support the public sector.

Yes, the percentage rises and falls within a fairly narrow band with every economic expansion/contraction.

Do you agree that over the last decade real income for the middle class has been flat?
Yes, that was my point, the middle class is not getting poorer. In fact if you look at this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/0/01/United_States_Income_Distribution_1947-2007.svg

you'll notice that all the income groups have been basically flat since 2000.

Do you agree that wealth in this country is increasingly being accumulated by a relative few?
I do, but you continue to ignore the fact that the middle and poor are not getting poorer but the rich are getting richer. For some reason you think this disadvantages the middle and lower income segments.... I think this is called jealousy.

Now, assuming you acknowledge all that, is that in your opinion a healthy state of affairs for the economy?
I do, we are growing our economy at the top of the value curve, we no longer make shoes or sew dresses... those are very low skill jobs that can be done anywhere. Apple is a good example, the low skill jobs go on contract to low cost suppliers while the high value jobs stay here (along with 75% of the wages). The key to success is education and skills, I think the unemployment rate for those with a 4yr degree is less than 5% (going off memory so I could be wrong). If we want to continue to have the standard of living that we enjoy (very high PPP Per capita GDP) we will need to continue this transition from low skill to high skill jobs.

These use to be "starter" jobs for immigrants and permanent jobs for uneducated longer term locals.
No question, and those jobs have moved.

there is nothing wrong with the fact that there are rich people and poor people, but the divide is widening so that the middle class is dying and the rich are filthy rich ( but not creating jobs in North America) and that is not sustainable. The gap must be closed somewhat, that is why I support the WE Party
