Pearl Harbor and 9/11, bookends of the American Century.
The reports of its death are greatly exagerated.

unlke the brave americans who employ covert cia hits and/or high tech drone attacks against their primitive opponents
Gee, the British would never do something like that, neither of course would Canada, now of course we have no foreign intelligence service capable of doing so! That I'm sure though is beside the point.

I laugh when i hear suicide bombers called cowards.....they surrendered their lives for their cause! They maybe insane, or stupid, or duped, but they are not cowards.....how should a noble primitive engage the world's mightiest military power? Meet us on the battlefield tomorrow at 2pm? 40 year old Russian machine guns versus the latest killing technology?....would that be fair?

So, do any of you guys have flights booked on Sept 11 this year? Stadium seats for the NFL or MLB?

Why is it that I suspect that if suicide bombers blew up Canadian Place, Scotia Place, Brookfield Place, and One King Street West killing huge numbers of those at work that day that at least some on TERB would be less worried about whether terror bombers can be called cowards or not.

Wow, I haven't seen 'politically correct' talk like that since the last time I read Joseph Conrad. Keep on upholding the White Man's Burden view of the 'inferiors' in the world.

Call these people cowards just makes one seem ignorent. They may be many things, but I simply do not see how calling them cowards is anything then stupid rhetoric. I'm sure lots of people called the VC cowards as well. ..

I don't know whether they should be called "cowards" or not. They probably weren't cowards. That doesn't make them any less evil, though. The attacks on 9/11 were truly evil acts, that's undeniable.

I think there was a moment on Sept 11th, 2001, as the horror of it dawned on all of us where the whole world was united in recognizing evil for what it really is. It's unfortunate that in the aftermath some of the victims have lost sight of that, and gone on themselves to engage in torture, in extrajudicial rendition, in extrajudicial killing. That 9/11 was the justification for even more evil only compounds the tragedy of that day.

I wonder if some of the guys on this board would have the guts to say some of the stuff they write here to a 9-11 survivor or a U.S. military veteran......just asking.

I'd be quite proud to relate what I wrote in post #29 to any of the victims of any of the violence by any side.

They're cowards in the sense that they won't engage their enemy head on militarily even though they claim to wage a 'holy war', but instead conduct terrorist acts on innocent civilians, or exclusively use guerilla warfare tactics on opposing armed forces.

As for drone attacks, if the U.S. can respond in ways that don't put their own in harm's way (as well as minimize or prevent collateral damage), then that's not cowardly but wise.

I think Japanese Kamikaze pilots are not cowards since they would attack their enemy head on, and risk getting shot or blown up if not crash to the sea in failure.

The Islamic terrorists that crashed those planes without any opposition or struggle, wouldn't have felt a thing anyways. They might as well be drones, especially since they were brainwashed, with thoughts of all those virgins in heaven.
