I can't believe Mayor McCheese thought it would be a good idea to close Lakeshore for 4 days when there is still major construction at Jameson just so they can have a car race.

However he's just continuing with a long-established bad practice.

Still, as I look forward to enduring the whiny din in my backyard, 10km away from the bozos by the lake who bought tickets, I can't help wondering how fast it would be shut down if it was Bob 'n' Doug who it was annoying.

Then there's the road closure thing: close roads for commercial car races, but banish charity runs to circling round and round and round in a park. Who cares if that disturbs people wanting to sit on the grass?

Hopefully with my face in a pussy
Got stuck in traffic on the Gardiner yesterday thank to the Lakeshore closure. I have no problem with the race itself, but with all the space available on the Exhibition grounds couldn't they configure it to run entirely within its boundaries?

As much as I'm not a fan of Mayor Sweaty Bob, he has NOTHING to do with the Honda Indy, or the construction on Jameson.

BTW, the construction on the Gardiner (the rehabilitation of the Lakeshore and Jameson bridges) is well ahead of schedule. Though I'm happy to see the old superstructures replaced, they did not replace the old concrete and it looks like shit frankly. A huge patchwork quit of concrete patches. What the fuck was that? And they have replaced the old concrete superstructures with steel, however, the steel is weathering steel and now everything will be covered in brown stains from the corrrosion.

It's fucking sad (pathetic) that the city had the opportunity to raze those old bridges completely and replace them with something aestheically pleasing, however, we got just patched up shit.

As one of those bozos (who will be attending the race with my favourite 20-year old SP - the cut-off jeans and bikini top she'll be wearing are in the wash as I write this), I must state my agreement with the original poster: I think the race would be a lot more entertaining if they didn't close Lakeshore Blvd.

Hey.. Don't knock it.. It's "tradition" (something that is apparently very near and dear to our mammoth mayors heart)... Plus it couldn't be less gay

Are you kidding!!?? You've clearly never seen those outfits the drivers wear. Very Village People. To say nothing of the whole concept of expressing your essential maleness by lying behind a thrusting machine and pretending to control it better than other males in equally suspect clothing doing the same. With nary a woman involved anywhere, until after it's all over.

It was approved before mayor mccheese took over. And if you're driving east on lakeshore you have 3 choices: drive thru the ex, gardiner east or do a U turn on to lakeshore west. Don't spend 25 minutes holding up traffic to decide. Mayor mccheese should sit on anyone who does that.

I dunno.. It's a bit of a stretch. It's not like football (men in tight pants wresting each other for a ball, and then spanking each other when they do a good job).

Question "Why do football players spank each others butts? Couldn't they just pat each other on the shoulder?"

Answer "Probably the same reason they shower together"

Somewhere but not here.

I don't live in the city but so what. The race and other such events bring people to the city and keep some businesses alive. It's fine with me if you don't want it in TO - I am sure there are many other places that would be happy to put up with a few days of traffic on a weekend for the opportunity.

We'll ask Ford to stop ALL events and all construction that interferes with traffic.

The opportunity to sit in a traffic jam because a major artery is closed? They're welcome to it. I'm not convinced the strupid even is worth it.

F you don't live in the city then its not your problem. That doesn't make it any less of a problem for me, of course

Its not just this retardded race. Its the marthons and the Ride your Bike for Cancer an all this other garbage. If they're all so great why DON'T other municipalities host them?

And I do hold the mayor responsible. He's supposed to be in charge, no?

i have absolutely no interest in watching loud fast cars burn excessive amounts of fuel as they pollute the atmosphere, but as a believer in the conspiracy theory that most road closures ( especially the runs and rides) are a tactic of the bicycle lobby in the war against cars, I welcome this closure....at least it pisses off the bike lobby!

Your right, not my problem in this case unless of course I were to drive into the city and provide some business. But don't worry about me, I can manage.

Would you like some cheese with your whine.
Yeah, because the city is utterly dependent on your business to survive. Oactually, it's 905'ers coming in here and treating the city like their perssonal parking lot and garbage dump that are the problem.

Are you coming into town to spend giant amounts of money on Indy weekend? No? As you've already agreed, this doesn't concern you. Since you don't have an interest or relevant opinion, why are you even posting in this thread?
