This is the first time in 17 years that Vancouver has made it to Stanley Cup. I am kind of proud to admit that I shed a tear as Bieksa scored the winning goal.
Agreed, and lets say that someday, (not in our lifetime probably) that the Leafs make it to the Stanley Cup final, does anyone actually think that people in Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton,Ottawa or Montreal would be cheering for them as "Canadas team"? Doubtful! From a Toronto perspective, the rest of the country laughs at and relishes the Leafs futility (not undeservedly). That is enough for me to root against any other Canadian team.
never been more proud to be a Canuck!

It's not just a Leafs thing. Toronto, Torontonians and anything Toronto is disliked (this is a generalization) across much of the country, similar to the way so many Americans dislike New Yorkers and New York teams. Part jealousy of the largest city and financial and cultural centre of the country and part dislike (understandably so) of the arrogance of the people that come from there who feel the universe revolves around them (another generalization).Shack I understand your posts but when Leafs go on West Coast trips there are as many Leaf Jerseys then the home Jersey's in the crowd .. At one time before all these Canadian cities had teams they must have either been bleeding Blue and White or Red and Blue and so I don't thing there is such a negative tone toward the Maple Leaf ... Although I am just guessing and since the Leafs have never been to a Cup Final in awhile it's hard to gage ... I do think Ottawa relishes our failures more the most Canadian cities ..
Yeah. It would seem weird to be more proud now as a Canadian than when we won the gold medal at the Olympics. In regards to the Thread title.
I think you mean a Canucks fan... or are you really an NHL'ER ?
I am originally from Vancouver !I am wondering what you mean by "Canuck".
Do you mean the nickname for all Canadians or are you meaning the NHL team specifically ?
Are you originally from Vancouver ?
How random is that?I just popped my chancroid.
Puke.Given that Vancouver is the only Canadian team left in the playoffs, let's give them the right to temporarily be known as Canada's team.
I say temporarily because everyone knows the Habs are Canada's real team.
Number of Stanley Cup banners hanging in the Bell Centre.Average I.Q. of a Habs rioter ?
Lots of people. Fans from the Big Bad Bruins days. But then, there's no accounting for taste.Who'd root for the Bruins?
24 - says it all.
That number will not change for a couple of decades.Number of Stanley Cup banners hanging in the Bell Centre.
