I find it hard to believe that people like you refuse to fix things that are broke.Hmmmmmmmm, you would't last 5 days with such "extravagant" benefits. I find it amazing that people like you continue to target those that have the least.
Unless your goal is to find a job or get an education. Then you might find a great need for browsing job websites and sending and receiving emails. In my area cable plus internet service run around 100 dollars per month and under no circumstances is either considered a life necessity.
It's kind of hard to get a job if nobody can telephone you.Eliminate all government funded public programs that provide fee cell phones.
Except that your ideas would result in fewer people getting OFF welfare because you are making it unreasonably difficult for them to get a job. It's not 1950 anymore, papa, nobody "pounds the pavement" looking for a job these days. People look at you weird if you do.These simple measures enacted nationally could save a hell of a lot more then people think.
He's against applying a bad 'fix' on something that isn't really badly broken. Your suggested solution just won't float. and will actually hurt people who shouldn't hurt any more.I find it hard to believe that people like you refuse to fix things that are broke.
You just seem to want to look the other way, rather then investigate solutions.
Oh yea and by the way, I would not be on welfare, I work for my supper.
I don't need to, as most members get, even those with half a brain. You? Oh well, I'm not here to entertain small minded gnomes.LMFAO!!!!!
Pray tell how you came to that delusion and amuse the board a bit???....
Like you grasshopper???I don't need to, as most members get, even those with half a brain.
Like you grasshopper???
That leaves you out!....
Well you just hang in their Sunshine....I posted it, so I get it. Boot to the head, numnutts, sorry gnomenutts.

But cutting waste not what you would do. You would make people suffer even more. As for drug testing, I don't think so. Having said that, I'm for testing in serios public service occupations. You see my suggestion was not to cut welfare but rather to stop waste.
Would you get behind mandatory drug testing for anyone on public assistance??
Like it or not you support my idea of paying attentionBut cutting waste not what you would do. You would make people suffer even more. As for drug testing, I don't think so. Having said that, I'm for testing in serios public service occupations.
Save money in the welfare system by going after the cheats, which I have not doubt here are many. You don't have to catch them all, just make an example of those you do catch. The others will go to ground or get of the wagon.
Wha?Like it or not you support my idea of paying attention
But you are focusing on just one part of the problem.
Me thinks you read too much into thatWha?
Of course I believe something has to be done, but not your welfare suggestion, because it was a bad suggestion.
Somewhere way back in a thread I suggest the top 2% of people pay their way for while. You could call it a head tax and see how they feel about it. They certainly won't miss it. Somewhere I read that 1% of the people own 33% of the wealth AND most Americans aren't aware of this little fact. I wonder how they feel if they did then heard the whiny 1% claim foul.Me thinks you read too much into that
You had the opportunity to suggest other cuts.
Yet not one lib here has suggested one.
I know you are likely more middle of the road than most but with that said you might have a more rational suggestion then a conservative like my self or a socialist like woody or his disciples.
I'll suggest one or two. Let's start with corporate welfare. As OTB mentioned we could start with the big agribusinesses, and then go on from there. Capping off Social Security payments to people who are are well enough off. Someone who has done very well in this country doesn't need the few hundred a month that SS would provide. Same goes for medicaid. If you want to look for waste, look no further than the military. Congress has many times funded extremely expensive contracts to military contractors for equipement the Pentagon didn't even want. Decriminalize simple drug possesion. In some states in the South you could face a possible felony charge for 1 ounce of marijuana. The prison system by state and federal is costing far too much, and helping to bankrupt many states. Give me a bit of time I'm sure I could think of others.Me thinks you read too much into that

I think once the heads were counted it freed up the more fiscally conservative to vote against a budget with such token cuts. It serves the Speaker's interests to have a credible threat to his right in dealing with the POTUS and Reid.Congress passes the spending bill, but Boehner lost a quarter of his support in the House. Nearly 60 Republicans voted against the bill, which considering how partisan congress is these days, is huge. The Tea Party is increasingly bucking the Republican party, and as I said in another thread, Boehner must be worried that he can keep them in line.
Not if he can't keep them in the fold. I'm sensing a third party candidate in the 2012 presidential election which will give Obama a second term.It serves the Speaker's interests to have a credible threat to his right in dealing with the POTUS and Reid.
OTB
