I do have to say the Leafs have been much better then I expected, and as a positive a division rival will not get a top 5 pick. Still a bad trade, but the gain for Boston is limited a bit.

Obviously they are in a better posiiton then last year, but I am still not convinced that organic growth will be enough to take the next step to get in the playoffs. They wll need a good offseason as well.

Their is nothing official about the Leafs playoff position at this point. They are still alive.

Since its not official I'm not sure what exactly your claiming we are seeing here first. Its hardly a new or oringal take... the same call was made by many (including many a Leafs fan) yesterday, last week, last month and before the season even started.

The Leafs are a better team than last year or they would not have beaten the Sabres so many times this season per the two teams' history. Then again the Sabres this year is very much a pretender, Beaten a also run does not amount to too much. Yes the Leafs are still alive but the good doc has to believe the patient is very sick and it is a matter of time when they reach the river of no return. Perhaps next season eh???

Incidentally, in the very unlikely event if the Leafs make the playoffs this year, they certainly should make more noise than the stupid Buffalo Sabres as they show more passion, heart, and will to win.

It's looking pretty bleak, they need to run the table 3 for 3 and the sabres & canes have to loose there remaining games and the way there playing, thats very unlikely. The door hasn't closed all the way yet...but I can almost hear the click lol.

The Leafs' playoff hope is in life support. It is a case of too little, too late this year my friend. It is unlikely that the Sabres, Rangers, and the Canes will not win any remaining games to close out the season. The hockey gods were smiling at the Sabres yesterday and make sure justice was served despite the horrific/incompetent penalty calls by the stupid referees on the Sabres and the non-calls on the Canes. One wonders how much these referees were bribed to fix the game in favor of the Canes. Someone in NHL should investigate these bastards.

Didn't you notice the good doc's sentence starts with "One wonders...."??? Nobody has proven it or disproved it. You never know. That is where the element of wonderment comes in. Go watch the game yourself. If you think the referees involved were so competent and fair, you may want to have your eyes check.
