How is the Kessel trade a fleecing ?
08/09 - 36 goals ( a first line center in Savard )
09-10 - 30 goals ( no first rate center ) - ( 13 game goaless drought )
10/11 - 30 goals ( and counting ) - ( again, no first rate center ) - ( 15? game goaless drought )
2010 - 11 power play goals - ranked 7 in the NHL
2008/2009 - 28 even strength goals - ranked 7 in the NHL
2008/2009 - 0.51 goals per game - ranked 8 in the NHL
I ask, how is this trade a fleecing.
I understand that you never give up a 1rst round, potential #1or #2 overall pick, but it seems that Burke was right, Kessel is a proven, perennial, 30 goal score.
Nobody knows what your going to get in the draft, every GM has high hopes for there draft picks, but lets face it, some of them don't work out the way they should , here is a top 10 list form Scott Lewis a respected hockey journalist , just to prove my point :
10 Pat Falloon 1991 San Jose Sharks 1st round (2nd overall)
9 Alexandr Svitov2001 Tampa Bay Lightning 1st round (3rd overall)
8 Bryan Fogarty1987 Quebec Nordiques 1st round (9th overall)
7 Doug Wickenheiser1980 Montreal Canadiens 1st round (1st overall)
6 Brett Lindros1994 New York Islanders 1st round (9th overall)
5 Scott Scissons1990 New York Islanders 1st round (6th overall)
4 Jason Bonsignore1994 Edmonton Oilers 1st round (4th overall)
3 Patrik Stefan1999 Atlanta Thrashers 1st round (1st overall)
2 Brian Lawton1983 Minnesota North Stars 1st round (1st overall)
And the number 1 pick that had all Sens fans grabbing for there guns....
Alexandre Daigle1993 Ottawa Senators 1st round (1st overall)
If Seguin is added to this list, and considering that Toronto has very few balls in the draft lottery this year, I ask again..... how is this a fleecing ?
