I believe it's OTPF. Tannenbaum has the right of first refusal to buy the Teacher's shares so if he can get the money together he will most likely be the Leafs new owner

Here's our opportunity.

We know we have enough experts here to successfully run the team.

We just need the cash. I guess that would be Fred.

Don't believe it
Toronto media is blowing this out of proportion
OTPP has no intention of selling their 66% share unless it's for an ungodly amount of money
Apparently the asking price is somewhere in the $1.5-2.0 billion range for only 2/3 of a team?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
2 BILLION fu*king dollars??????????
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa????????
Anybody who would pay that is completely insane - but it would keep teachers flush for another 1000 years
Come on you can buy 100% of the Phoenix Coyotes for about 90 million

Where to start.

1)They have hired a large financial investment (Morgan Stanley) company to find potential buyers.
2)They are asking for $1.3B making all of MLSE worth $2B
3)They are selling their share of MLSE which includes:
i)Leafs
ii)Raptors
iii)TFC
iv)ACC
v)their condos
vi)Marlies
vii)Leafs TV
viii)Raptors TV

Aside from that, your assertions are very compelling.

MLSE does not own either of those 2 stadiums.

They are both owned by the City of Toronto.

My hunch is that Rogers will buy it.

Ted Rogers wanted to buy MSLE. It's Rogers intent to own all the sporting business in TO, and besides, the CEO and CFO of Rogers are good friends with Tannenbaum.
Look for The Weston Group aka Loblaws and Galen Weston to make a strong bid, they own Maple Leaf Gardens.
I'm just saying.:D

wasn't there reports (that were denied) last year that Rogers was negotiating with the TTPPA ( add ATP's and other letters as necessary) said it was not for sale. So this is not news. Just publicly stating team is for sale,as Rogers deal fell through.

your right, they did try it once but Ted Rogers didn't like the price and ttppa only wanted to sell enough shares but still have control.
