I wonder if tis Macklem fellow will develop a 'groupie' following or at least get some good attention from sympathetic women, or women in similar circumstances who cant find love, and so on. Gold diggers need not apply.

It's not inconceivable that Mr. Macklem is a member of TERB and that he's been following our comments all along!

I understand exactly how he got trapped by his emotions, I empathize fully with what he had to endure, and I greatly admire and respect his tenacity in relentlessly pressing his legal case through to a successful conclusion. It must have been excruciatingly embarrassing for him to come forward into the public eye while he was still employed in his regular job and to come under the close scrutiny of coworkers, friends and family members, many of whom presumably had no idea that he ever visited escorts. Mr. Macklem, I salute you!

For me personally it has been very therapeutic just writing about my recent experiences. To be honest, this is not the first time I've become embroiled in this type of situation (as noted in some of my earliest posts) but I know for sure it will be my very last!

Kudo's for you Tip-Drill nice to hear this has been a therapeutic experience for you and happy to hear this will be the last you will be taken advantage of! I am happy to know that your presence in the terb community has been a part of a positive change for you!

Thank you Paradise for your kind and generous comments. When I analyze all of the evidence in my own case I can only blame myself for what happened to me personally as I was never subjected to the type of extreme premeditated deception that Mr. Macklem was exposed to. At my age (I'm retired) I should have known much better and I should have been able to see what was happening to me ...... and finally (thankfully) I did.

Yes , it took a lot of courage for Mr. Macklem to put himself out there in the Public Eye and go thru the long ordeal of court proceedings .
And , I commend you , also , Mr . Tap Drill for also coming out and sharing with us your own experience and pain of a similar nature . At least , you had the commonn sense to put a stop to it , before things got out of hand . Yes , you lost 60 K and ' love ' , but at least it wasn't 600k and your life as you had established all these 60 + years .

Myself , I'm also guilty of ' falling ' in love a few times with a SP . Haven't we all at one time or another ? But , I never gave out more than my hourly rate and to give credit to the girls involved , they never asked for more either , even though they probably knew I was ' smitten ' . Well , of course , they knew . I told them so . They were very sweet . Just smiled , kissed and thanked me . Told me they ' loved ' me too . And she ' looked forward to seeing me again ' .
' Sigh ' Looking for love in all the wrong places . Good luck , Tip Drill . You'll be AOK. Pain will go away . Lesson learned in life . It's just a business for the girls . Nothing wrong with that , as long as they don't do the ' Chez Nicole ' number .

To be good at it , a SP should enjoy sex , be a good actress , and meet the normal needs of her clients . That's ok . It's between consenting adults after all .

When does the Judge issue sentence on ' Nicole ' ? I'll be disappointed in the Justice System if she doesn't get the Maximum .
She'll be tough though , in the cellblock . I don't think she'll let any other girls make her ' their bitch '. Probably the other way around . She 'll adapt and use her manipulation skills to get her though , whatever the system throws at her . Behind that pretty face and ' killer body ' , is one ' street smart ' hard female .

What a IDIOT!

So when a Asian SP say to you....Oh You SO BIG, and Tee Me Tee Me, or better yet your wife leaves you high and dry and takes half or more IS THAT FRAUD. No it is not! This guy was thinking with his dick, just like any review on here that someone post when they had a bad time. My one head said yes go for it while the other sat in limbo. It was a act, drama at best and he fell for it. What a moron to believe the stories she came up with. I hope she appeals the case and wins, this is one of those guys who have more money than brains which is obviously apparent.

Please re read my response. You will see my intention was to put a positive spin on this very comment. By coming out in the open, not only will he endure embarrassment, but also garner support. You know there are nice, available, and possibly, lonely women out there, reading articles like this, wondering how they can and why they can't find their way into the hearts of people like Macklem before the vultures do.

' Chez Nicole ' Guilty

What a IDIOT!

He was " in love " afterall .

Probably , the first time ever with a very beautiful woman who met his sexual needs and made him temporarily forget his considerable Disabilities .

Can you imagine being permanately wheel chair confined , being stared at in public , and not able to find any normal female contacts / personal companionships ?

To be with a woman as beautiful as ' Nicole ' , was undoubtedly ' mind blowing ' for him . Like , he probably was saying to himself , ' I cant believe this is happening to me ! ' And , so , he started off paying $ 700 @ week & it multiplied from that quickly over time , as he gave in to her considerable charms & requests .

With her looks , killer body & those mesmerizing eyes ( which I found to be a really 'tantric experience , all on their own ) , it is no wonder he was ' hooked '. It must have been a totally unreal high for him and with all of this thrown at him in such a vulnerable circumstance , he was a ' goner ' and she ' knew it ' all along .

I haven't heard about any appeal because Sentencing hasn't been handed down yet . But , if an appeal is sought , I hope Justice will prevail & appeal will be denied & maximum sentence of 10 yrs. laid down . When she gets out , she'll be 41 . Justice served but Macklem will be forever personally & financially destroyed

For your average Joe, sure. This was not the case here.

All I can think of is that the guy needed to be loved and didn't want to believe the obvious. It was a pretty dispicable act on her part to bleed this guy dry like that. Manipulating him and basically destroying the guy emotionally and financially. They guy has problems that the majority of us can't even imagine.

It was preying on the weak.
The guy obviously had issues. Too bad he didn't spend the money on a shrink.

Well, if he had $800,000 to lose, then he may have been rich.
Someone in that state probably had an insurance payout to help pay with the necessities of life that we all take for granted because we can do without a second thought. I wouldn't trade 800K to be in a wheelchair.

If nothing else I hope that a thread such as this one brings everyone back to earth and makes them understand that in the end this is the entertainment business and it provides both parties involved with a little bit of something (albeit temporarily) that both are missing and need from each other. I know this is very very difficult to do especially when you really seem to get along with someone and particularly when the heart and soul begins to be touched. Based on experience all I can say is to keep reminding yourself of this. Always be honest, direct and to the point with each other and yourself and when you give or help, do so genuinely and without unrealistic expectations. Good luck to all.

That post has nothing to do with what happened in this situation whatsoever. She took advantage of a guy in a weak position, lied to him and took as much money as she could. There was clearly a relationship beyond client / sp and that is what she used to exploit him. She invented the unrealistic expectations for exactly that reason.

I am sure he was honest with her and his feelings. I do agree that it would be nice if everyone was playing the same game and on the same page though.

Part of me feels bad for this guy and part of me thinks he should have known better, but either way he was the victim of a master manipulator. She deserves something punitive from the courts but I'll let the judge figure out what that should be because I really have no clue what the appropriate sentence should be.

If I remember correctly, sentencing is this week, the 4th or is it the 6th ? I wonder if the newspapers will publish anything ?

The sentencing is March 4.

I think it's important to remember that if Mr. Macklem was a fool, Ms. Johnson was a rogue. It's not against the law to be a fool (else which of us would escape whipping!), but it is against the law to be a rogue.

She was in a position of power over this guy. It may have been foolish on his part, but that does not make him fair game. She did wrong. She goes to jail. The very things that people have decried in his actions reflect more badly on her. He bought the Brooklyn Bridge (so to speak); she sold it. He thought she was in love; she said she was. He believed her lies; she lied.

It is instructive to review his errors so that we may avoid them, but they do not excuse her actions.

I'll let you know if I find out the results of the sentencing hearing. Based on the judge's comments when he revoked bail, it don't look so good for her.

Yes , we'll all be waiting to hear the Sentence Results . I didn't hear the comments of the judge . What did he say ? And I didn't know he had revoked bail . Is she in the Ottawa Detention centre , awaiting sentencing ? I personally hope so 'cus there's always the possibility she could skip town in the interim .

I didn't hear the comments of the judge . What did he say ?

OTTAWA — A Superior Court judge has sent a former call girl to jail to await sentencing for bilking a disabled client of more than $800,000 in an elaborate romantic deception.

Judge John Johnston revoked Darquise Johnson’s bail, saying he could not believe a word she said.

Johnson, 31, had promised to abide by any new bail conditions imposed in advance of her sentence.

But the judge said her promises were worthless.

“I find that she has no credibility,” Johnston ruled. “You simply cannot accept anything this woman has said ... Her word is of no use to this court in this proceeding.”

She has lied in criminal court, civil court and in her own bankruptcy case, the judge said.

Johnson — she also goes by the name L’Ecuyer — was led from court by two uniformed police officers Friday afternoon. She is to be sentenced March 4.

The Crown has indicated it will be seeking a sentence of about five years to reflect the devastating nature of the fraud.

Massive Fraud Stole Man’s Self-Respect, Court Hears (Victim Reads Impact Statement at Sentencing for Call Girl)

“The emotional toll this has taken on me is not possible to express in words,” Macklem said. “The pain was so severe at the time that I felt I was breaking apart inside.”
What has also been difficult, Macklem told court, is that Johnson has never once expressed to him any sense of remorse or guilt about what happened.

“While I’ve seen her shed tears, none of them have been for me,” he said. “What’s most pitiful is that if she said sorry to me now, I wouldn’t believe her.”

“The financial impact has been very severe and will be felt the rest of my life,” he said.

Macklem said he cannot afford to repair his custom-built van, nor can he afford a vacation.

“My life has been reduced to working and to paying my debts,” he said. “As it stands now, I will never be able to afford to retire.”
Crown attorney Jason Neubauer said he will ask the judge to send Johnson to jail for five to seven years.

Well, if she was that *smart* as some of you thought about her, she would not have come back to Canada and would not have blown away all the cash she fleeced from Doug.

It's clear what she did was legally and morally wrong and I am glad she will have to face the music for it. I am just saying she could have chosen a different path and the outcome would be different. Hindsight is 20/20.
