That I let my dog sleep in my room. I set the furnace to only come on at 55f which is like 12.77 c and the only room that heated with a space heater is my room. It always cold in the morning when I go downstairs. But we are going to get some nasty cold weather and so I let him stay in my room. Now he just walking around and looking out the window. Well to be fair his owner is not asleep yet!!

Set the thermostat to 13 C for this kind of weather! Are you
broke or are you just being too frugal to spend the extra few
bucks in utility payment to keep you and your doggie warm.

The dog has a small space heater 700w next to his cage. It does a decent job, I see him next to it when he sleep for warmth. My room is over 70 degrees. The only place in the house that is warm. Why not save money and turn off his heater and let him sleep in my room. Just make sense.

Given that you made these statements... are you really surprised that your house is cold in the morning?

Have you checked your electricity bill? Unless your house's insulation really sucks you may just be trading an oil bill for a higher electricity bill by using the space heater.

Na it not bad. The dog get 700 watts and my space heater has 700 watts. So I think it like .11 cent an hour. His space heater is not very good because his room which I use as a den is in the main floor and it has no door because I took them out. It only heat a small area. On nights that it - 15 outside I feel the need to have him in my room. It not that bad the bills and if I had more space heater to heat every room then ya the bill would be insane.

Maybe you should spend your money on heating your place instead of SP.

Exactly what I was thinking. He is likely spending more on electricity than it would cost to heat the house.

Well heating with oil is pretty expensive. My house is set to 21.5 now, nice and cosy. Fuck the bill. You can close of vents in unused rooms, but IMHO prolonged exposure to low temps is probably not good for your body, joints, muscles etc... especially if you are not used to it. (i.e no an Inuit). Maybe eat some seal blubber.. I hear that's what the folks that really have to live with extreme cold do. But yeah, -15 today, all that snow, it sucks.
