I would say that the vast majority of people I know are in marriages of convenience or marriages that became convenient.

Marriages of convenience:

- Married young to get out of the house or feel adult.
- The thing to do because everyone is doing it.
- Pressure from the family.

Marriages that became convenient :

- For financial reasons
- For the kids.
- There is no where to go.

How many marriages of convenience or marriages that became convenient do you know?

You're obviously not married. There's nothing convenient about be married to a heartless bitch. A loving marriage however is a life of security and hope.

Of course there is. Not having to go through a divorse with a heartless bitch comes to mind.

Men generally are quite a gutless crowd. They would rather stay in a loveless marriage than break it and start a new life.

I think if your going to talk about marriage you better at least have been married before if not I don't think you should comment on the subject. I was never married so, I will not give any advice...

This has nothing to do with being gutless. It's all about not losing all your stuff.

As far as I'm concerned, it's better to remain in a loveless marriage and have $$$$ than be single and broke.

Your saying: Step into the quicksand and tell em how you like it, see how easy it is to get out of it!
I do not think that your statement is good advice. I just see too many people in marriage because there is no where else to be. If you are going to be in a relationship or get married, why set yourself up to loose half or everything you own?

There are many people I know who were or still are in a marriage of convenience. Most of them have been quite successful in their careers and have a lot to lose financially. What really bothers me is when the people I know who are still married bitch and moan about their spouse complaining that they are no good, useless, goldigging sluts or womanizers. Then you hear excuses that they will lose everything. What's everything? Material posessions? Those are replacable over time. Many of these people I've stopped having contact with them because of this. I really don't have the energy to hear about it anymore.

If you are really that unhappy, get out, start over and if someone really cares about themselves they wouldn't stay in a situation like that especially when they have the brains, money and whatever else to start over with. People make mistakes but don't spend a lifetime living one. And if you have children, think about how they would feel with their parents fighting all the time. Not a good way to grow up. And yes, I also speak from the experience of marriage.
