Thanks to everyone who posted their favourite tunes. The 70's were probably the best years of my life. I was somewhat of a hippie then. When I first came across the thread, I turned off the tv. Just turned it on to find the leafs leading atlanta 8-1 after two periods. I missed a once in a year occasion. Was worth it.

There's so much to choose from in that era but I liked a lot of Hendrix's music:

The Wind Cries Mary ( No b.s. music. Just a trio w/ 1 guitar overdub I think. Lovely sound of a Strat or Tele...mmmm).
Little Wing (beautiful and soulful fills by Jimi on this song)
Axis Bold As Love (The sound of the guitar and the chordal work).

and so many more...

I think Hendrix was a creative and musical genius and a total musician. He composed, wrote lyrics, played.
People from every kind of music admired his talent.
I may sound like one of those "get off my lawn" guys, but isn't it a shame to see what is seen as talent today in many cases ( i.e. American Idol).
Hendrix is awesome !!! LOVE HIM
You'll love this version of Little wing by SRV

Anywhere there's a Strip Joint
Who remembers Gina from Gimlet's (Lombard & Victoria) dancing to meatloaf back around 77? I can still smell the sweat. :)
I know my brother does....if I remember correctly, she was on the cover of the Battered Wives first album.

While more of a 70's soul music fan I can still dig some of the great classic rock of that era. To do that you look no further than Led Zeppelin who were the unquestionable leaders of this genre. My fav album of theirs is Physical Graffiti, although Zeppelin IV is regarded as their crowning achievement. Here's my fav song from Physical Graffiti (11 minutes of pristine bluesy rock n roll)
Right on K Douglas - Physical Graffiti is the best double they put out. The song you are referring to was also recorded live on a compilatoin CD I have and that guitar work by JP is just awesome.

Good taste K

"The Load-Out" is a song by Jackson Browne from his 1977 album Running on Empty.

It is a tribute to his roadies and fans. The song was recorded live at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland.

Classic Album, but if you want a credit to the roadies, how about this?

"Delta Dawn, what's that flower you have on
Could it be a faded rose from days gone by...

And did I hear you say he was a-meeting you here today
To take you to his mansion in the sky!"

"How come he don't come and p.l.p. with me
Down at the meter no more?
How come he turn off the TV
And he hang that sign on the door?

We call and we call "How come?" we say
What could make a boy behave this way?"
