University student loses scholarship over porn film

Miss Hawkenson is described as an undergraduate studying for a geography degree at the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University.
In the video, she apparently shows her student identification card to prove she is over 18 years old before engaging in a sex act for the "audition".

A letter has also been reported in which a person claiming to be an ASU alumnus wrote to the university board to demand that her "$32,000 New American Scholar Award be revoked immediately".
It continued: "A young woman who brings shame on her university in such a public and degrading way does not deserve the financial support of that university."

Many have dismissed the letter as a hoax intended to promote pornography, including the Phoenix Times.

According to the paper's website, the video appeared on the porn site Backroom Casting Couch and explains the site's premise as such: "a guy puts out an ad for adult models. Chicks respond thinking it's only going to be some nude photos, but the guy holding the audition gradually talks the girls into having sex with him. He tells them he can make them a porn star, who earns $5,000 a day."

However, "the guy isn't a casting director, and there is no job. The audition supposedly is a hoax just to get the girls to have sex with the guy on a couch."

When the paper contacted Miss Hawkenson, however, she admitted that she knew she would appear in online porn but took the $2,000 fee on the proviso that the video would only appear on the part of the site which people had to pay to see.

But that did not happen and she has now become widely known.

100 percent correct.

If she was selling AK 47's in the local Gun Shop, nothing would have happened to her.

Unless making a porn is illegal (and I don't believe that it is) then they have no right to take her scholarship away from her (I believe it's that First Amendment thingie) and she should sue their asses into the ground.

I disagree. She is not "slandering their reputation". She has done nothing illegal, nor has she spoken out against the University (the definition of slander) Ergoe, she is not subject to any penalties under the law. Even if she signed some agreement with some loosey goosie Weasel Clause in there about her behaviour, unless the Weasel Clause specifically states that she cannot make a porno, the University has no grounds to revoke her scholarship.

Besides, I know for a fact several female University Students past and present who worked their way through University in the sex industry in Canada.

At most the young woman in question is guilty of showing very poor judgement. That said, who among us hasn't shown very poor judgement at one time or another. (Let he who is without sin as it were.) We learn from it, we move on. Hopefully she does too.

Yes, of course they are. All this is staged.
