What major piece of legislation is on secret hold? Seems like most bills on hold are minor bills and for that matter we don't know which party is holding them up.

Nonsense...Obamacare was held up by blue dogs. Cap and Tax was also killed by democrats. The unemployment benefit extension was stalled by republicans but eventually they caved. The small business bill is currently being stalled by republicans but they may cave on this one as well.

That isn't a filibuster.

Do you understand that the only way the Republicans can block anything is with the filibuster? If legislation isn't being passed and it isn't because of the filibuster, then it is because dems are voting against it.

Or threaten one, which is what they did in this case. The result was that the R's in congress forced changes on Obama's healthcare scheme that resulted in a bad compromise.

There are two good healthcare strategies:

1. Embrace public healthcare and achieve economies of scale, or

2. Reject public healthcare and achieve an efficient market

Obama initially proposed a solution that would have achieved #1 but was forced into a compromise by the R's that is neither #1 nor #2, America is now well and truly fucked on this issue, having not achieved either good outcome.

I do understand the process. I read this article before you posted it. The point you are willfully ignoring, is that no major piece of Obama's agenda has been held up by secret holds. The 309 pieces of legislation being held up are minor compared to Cap and Tax, Obamacare, Porkulus and Son of Porkulus. We don't even know how many of the 309 are being held by republicans.
