Naked photographs of a senior Manitoba judge engaged in bondage are part of a man's complaints to legal watchdogs about the judge's past and that of her husband, CBC News has learned.

A formal complaint was filed in July with the Canadian Judicial Council against Lori Douglas, associate chief justice of Manitoba Court of Queen's Bench (family division). Another complaint has been lodged with Manitoba's Law Society against Douglas's husband, Jack King, 64, a Winnipeg family lawyer.

The complainant, computer specialist Alexander Chapman, 44, alleges that King harassed him in 2003 by pressing him to have sex with Douglas, who was a lawyer at the time.

Over several weeks, Chapman said King showed him about 30 sexually explicit photos of Douglas, showing her naked in various forms of bondage, in chains, with sex toys and performing oral sex.

Chapman said he became so bothered by King's overtures that he began sleeping at his St. Mary Avenue office, pretending he was too busy with work to meet Douglas.

King's lawyer, Bill Gange, said King was suffering from depression at the time and didn't tell his wife that he had shown the pictures to anyone or that he had posted the photos on a porn website.

An Ottawa legal expert said that even if Douglas, who was appointed a judge in 2005, was the unwitting victim of a scheme, the presence of the photos on the internet raise issues about her ability to perform as a judge.

"If pictures of you naked end up on an internet site, it's quite difficult to say you have the credibility to be a judge," said Sbastien Grammond, dean of civil law at the University of Ottawa.

Alexander Chapman says he was shown about 30 sexually explicit photos of Douglas in 2003. (CBC)
Grammond said a judge ultimately represents the ideal of justice and therefore the judge's conduct and image reflect on the justice system as a whole. The judge is, in a sense, the embodiment of the justice system, something the Supreme Court has noted in a past judgment.

Grammond doubts that Douglas would have been appointed a judge if she had disclosed the fact that there were nude photographs of her on the internet in her application.

There is a question in the application that asks, "Is there anything in your past or present which could reflect negatively on yourself or the judiciary and which should be disclosed?"

"I think the facts are sufficiently suspect to warrant disclosure and to raise very important questions as to whether such a person should have been appointed a judge," Grammond said.

Douglas has refused to comment to CBC News on the allegations.

'Disgusting' pictures
Chapman said he first met Douglas's husband, Jack King, in 2002, when he retained him from the Winnipeg law firm Thompson Dorfman Sweatman to handle his divorce.

Jack King says he was coping with the deaths of his best friend and his brother during his interactions with Chapman. (CBC)
Five months later, Chapman said King invited him out for a drink and mentioned a porn website devoted to interracial sex, particularly between black men and white women.

"He was talking to me about websites and stuff, and he gave me a website to go to called Darkcavern.com," said Chapman, who is black and originally from Trinidad.

King supplied him with a password, Chapman said, and told him to look at a section called "Our White Princesses," where white women post photos to attract black men. Numerous nude photos of King's wife, who was a lawyer at the same firm her husband worked at, were posted there, Chapman said.

"I wanted to puke," Chapman said. "[The pictures] were disgusting. I couldn't believe my lawyer was doing this to me."

It apparently wasn't the first time King sought out a black man to have sex with his wife. An ad on the Darkcavern site, seen by CBC News, shows nude photos of Douglas and seeks a "smooth black male or Mexican" to join the couple during an upcoming trip to Cancun in February 2002.

The ad specifies that the man is wanted "to seduce her with the intent of getting her enmeshed in the submissive, multi-partner, interracial sex scene."

"Husband will help and facilitate," it goes on to say.

Photos of Douglas have since been removed from the Darkcavern site.

This one has it all boy.

This confirms my long held belief that the higher the education the woman has - the wilder and kinkier she is in the bedroom.

Personally, I don't know why the guy is lodging the suit in the first place. She's not a bad piece of gear, he should have just said, "thanks but no thanks" way back when, PLUS he was already paid off once and signed a confidentiality agreement.

I hope they go after him and he loses big time.

Many affluent people I 'kind of' know are swingers, sadly I'm not part of the group.

Here
This is an awful, deplorable situation. Explosive, too!

The husband's conduct is wretched. Depression does not mean insanity; he knew what he was doing!

The stud is a scoundrel. He already settled his complaint and blew his own personal integrity.

The lady may be totally "innocent" -- but it's her reputation, private life and livelihood that hangs in the balance. Her photos, too! I can't see how she can continue to sit as a judge.

No winners here... and for what?

In recent times, when men in power behaved like this, they got thrown to the wolves. It's nice to see it happening to a woman now.

We've almost achieved equality!

I disagree.

She's entitled to her sexual privacy just like you or anyone else. (Keep in mind where you are.) What she does in her sex life should not impact her professional life. I hope she manages to ride this one out.

My guess is that the guy in question wants something - undoubtedly money. He made a deal back when - he should have lived by it. He's a complete piece of work in my opinion.

My sentiment wasn't how it should be but how people are treated by society when it does happen. When it was a man, he was called a perv who used his position of authority for sexual gain. Nice to see things coming full circle, even if not completely yet.

The above I agree with, and also Perry's remarks in #4. What a mess and Justice Douglas, who had nothing to do with this is going to be the one thrown to the wolves.

Do we really believe that she had nothing to do with it? Do we really believe that the complainant was so horrified? To me, it sounds more likely they are denying her involvement to protect her career. And that the complainant was not bullied or pressured (do you really need to apply inappropriate pressure to find a dude to fuck your wife? I think not), but that for whatever reason he wants to embarass the judge.

On another note, we need to find the nude photes of the judge, make this thread make more sense.

I'm guessing that she was totally into it as well, however, the issue is that her private sex life has been dragged out into the glaring spot light and that's not cool. (At least for a guy like me with about a hundred skeletons packed into my closet which I would not want to have dragged out).

When I read the story on the CBC website, frankly I was amazed that they were printing it. I would have thought this more like something you would see from the trash media in the UK. (I'm sure it will hit the media there too, oh, in about 4 hours ago.)

I just don't get how it came to this. The husband in question should have known better than to make such suggestions to a client. I don't know if he was forcing the issue or not, but as you say so accurately, "is it really that hard to find a guy to fuck your wife". So I don't understand why the hubby would apply pressure to the desired guy (Bull). Doesn't make sense.

Neither does the guy going legal on this make sense. At the end of the day, it was a kinky pass at worst, which he could have simply rejected.

Theres's more to this story to be sure.

Don't they live in Manitoba? So finding a black guy to fuck your wife in Toronto can be enough of a challenge. Try heading to Winnipeg, Saskatoon or Regina.

I hope the judge divorces the moron. But I wonder who can hear the case given that she was on the Judicial Council.

Getting tail is getting tail but...when you are going through divorce with limited funds and your lawyer is playing mind games things may not be so black and white>> (pun intended)

The judge is not a victim but a willing participant, after all we are talking about a well educated individual who deals with passing judgment on others as a career. Let's see if more do not come out with their stories now.

She probably had a couple minority lovers in university but once she graduated wanted to look the roll and not deal with issues...but yearned for dark meat all the while...LOL

As her husband i would be depressed also. Loser!

I agree with you about the lawyer part - playing mind games, etc., however, all it takes is, "Look, I'm here because I need your professional services ONLY, please, let's stick to business, I'm not interested in having sex with your wife and I find the entire suggestion highly inappropriate"

I have the feeling though that the legal bills may have been adding up and the good judge and her husband offered to do some free work for the guy in question - but as we all know, there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Lastly, her husband obviously has a sexual fetish. I thought you would understand such things.

Chapman has to be the King of Shit-rakers and life-wreckers. All this happened in 2002, for god's sake. He could just have told King to fuck off and taken his file to a new lawyer. Instead, here he is 8 years later, trying - undoubtedly - to make a buck out of the issue.

His credibility is pretty shaky as a result.

That said, sexual harrassment is a disbarment offence in Ontario and - I presume - Manitoba. King and his wife should have been far more discrete and kept their private life FAR FAR AWAY from their legal life. They are probably both toast.

I mean, what was he thinking of?!

You are speaking in hindsight in regards to things being inappropriate. Why should that even have to be considered when you are seeking legal advice through the proper channels. At the time it was happening he probably thought he was in a twilight zone episode.

I wonder what the chances are that she will stay a judge. Who knows, now that the other judges know that she puts out she may BJ her way to the Supreme Court.

He was thinking enough to get 25 grand out of the deal 8 years ago. Only thing is that he signed a confidentiality agreement PLUS an order to destroy all evidence. He has done neither. I hope he has a damn good lawyer on this - he's going to need it.

Most likely he's probably got Lionel Hutz on the case telling him that this is a good idea.

Well, it's pretty much as expected.

The "Reluctant Stud" has filed a suit seeking 67 million dollars in damages.

That's laughable frankly. How the fuck he figures he's been damaged to the tune of 67 million dollars is going to be interesting to hear.

My guess is that he's broke, he tried to extort money out of the couple in question, they refused, now he's gone public. He settled 8 years ago for 25 grand. Guess he needs more free money. At the very least, I can't see how he can get around the agreement he made 8 years ago. (Maybe he lawyer figures that there is a way, however, I would think that if a judge threw out the agreement from 8 years ago that judge would be setting a huge precident.)

Here's the bit about him seeking 67 million dollars:

On Wednesday, Chapman filed separate lawsuits against King for $10 million and against Douglas for $7 million. He is also suing the law firm Thompson Dorfman Sweatman, where the couple used to work, for $50 million.

He told CBC News on Wednesday that he couldn't live with what he says happened any longer.

"I'm standing here at the courthouse and I'm very nervous … I've been like this for seven years," he said.

"I just want people to know that this happened to me and it was real for me."

He said he was relieved to have his story out in the open.
