Does anyone care? Do the teams even really care? After the disappointment of getting eliminated in the semi's, to make them play a 3rd place game... what a waste. At least in the Olympics you play for a bronze medal ...and sometimes that is not even enough.. (*ahem* Team Canada 1998).

The third place game does not & will not have the glamour of the final, it will provide a venue to prove a point, especially for Germany, that a mis-step cost them the final berth.

The German Team will probably slaughter the Uruguay Team (lost to Spain by 2-3), win by a wide margin to salvage the lost glory in 2010.

Speaking of Canada and the Olympics ... I was shocked to find out that Canada won a Mens Olympic Soccer Gold Medal !

It's not entirely a waste because the goals count towards players' total. Which means Klose has a shot at becoming the all time goal leader at the World Cup.

I care. I have $$$ on both team scoring a goal in the game.
But I'm sure Uruguay is going to play this like its their WC.

At least in the Olympics, you play for a medal and to get to the podium. In the World Cup, does anyone remember who finished 3rd or 4th?

It was a very good game. Unfortunately, Germany could not field a full force - Lahm (under the weather) & Klose (back injury).

Klose would be 37 y.o. in 2014 if he makes it to the national team & would not have a chance to equal any WC scoring record.

Simply one of the 64 waste of times that make up the World Cup.
Sort of like the waste of time it took to post and read this comment.
