Who will?
Who won the Euro in 2008?

Who has been FIFA ranked either 1 or 2 since that Euro?

Which country has turned a major corner when it comes to cultural and socio/political status?

Which team is the only who recently won all 6 cups they are elgible for?

How many members of that team are capped?

Argentina kind of sucks now
I agree.

Argentina cannot be taken seriously without Cambiasso. Look at how he defused every Bayern attack that came his way, the most clinical defensive midfielder in the world today.

Maradona should have his head examined.

I am looking forward to the June 12 USA vs England game.
If what I am told is true, it would quite the feather in the cap for the US and somewhat of an embarrassment for England should the US win this game.
Agreed USA might be a surprise

Well the countdown is on and I can't believe that Benzema, Van Nisteroy and Ronaldhino have been left off there respective squads.

Who will you be routing for?
I think Benzema and Van Niestelrooy were left off due to poor for and age respectively. Henry was the more logical choice over Benzema as he still has some world quality soccer in him, and lets not forget he is a big performer and proven as well. Leaving Ronaldinho out does not make sense to me, i know he had a horrible season last year because of injuries, but this year he has rebounded and playing well.

My pick is either Holland or France. France has been one of the best teams in the International stage in the recent years. 1998 World Cup Champs, 2000 Euro Cup Champs, 2001 & 2003 Confederations Cup champs, and finally 2006 finalists. I know Domenech is criticized a lot, but i wouldnt write off their players.

That was when they had Zidane to undo the damage of the train wreck that is Domenech.

Holland will not win the World Cup or even make the final. They have been the biggest chokers in the World Cup, which is sad really considering the teams/players they have had.

England is in big trouble after that dismal win over Japan. Is it me or I am really excited about this World Cup, no real clear cut favourite.

U know what beats me to this day? Effin Domenech didnt play Trezeguet all game in the last World Cup Finals AND took out Henry with like 1 minute to play in when he knew the game is going to shootout (at which point he put Trezeguet in). That for me was the deciding factor in the game more than Zidane's headbutt, because Trezeguet went on to miss in the shootout. Why couldnt he play both forwards at the same time?? and why did he take Henry out before the shootout??

When it comes to big matches Thierry Henry has the fortitude of a gummy bear. He started the 06 Final by feigning injury and wasting five minutes of the match. Then he got it going and started to give the Italian defense real trouble. Unfortunately for him, it went to his head and he started to believe he was Diego Maradona. At the 2/3 point Henry made another rush and appeared to have Cannavaro beaten - it never occurred to him that he was being set up. Just as he was about to shoot he gets hit with a shin shattering tackle by Materazzi. To his credit he did manage to get up, but he was useless for the remainder of the match.

It was a very risky tackle, had Materazzi not touched the ball first he would have received a straight red. Although he's loath to admit it, it was that tackle that set Zidane off. He and Materazzi have a long history of violence, to this day there is no brotherly love between them.

All things are forgiven, new Juventus President Andrea Agnielli has asked the Frenchman to return to the fold and Zidane has accepted. In spite of his actions, Zidane is still highly respected in Italy - Henry isn't.

Wasn't the same statement true for Spain, as well, before the Euros? I know that it's a convenient "truth" to use... but eventually, when all the rot from the previous regime is gone, and a whole new group assembled from the youth of ANOTHER generation takes its place... you really should take a look at the situation from another perspective. You would think that Spain should have provided you with that very fresh perspective.

Another thing... beyond talent... is the draw. Spain would be my favourite but they have a potentially difficult draw. Holland... not so much.

Holland should... and will win this World Cup. Remember my advice in your pools. You can thank me later.

Don't get me wrong, i have always liked the dutch teams. From Cryuff to Van Basten to Van Nistelroy (who should be on this squad). They have some of the best players and even coaches but mentally there is something missing.

With Essien already missing and Drogba breaking his arm, I fear that none of the African teams will get past the group stage.

What does Juventus, or Italy for that matter, have to forgive Zidane for? You should issue a stamp of the head butt because without Zidane losing his cool Italy wouldn't be world champions.
