Venue: Concert Arena (at the Ferrari World theme park on Yas Island)
Broadcast: Pay-per-view

MAIN CARD

* Champ Anderson Silva vs. Demian Maia (for middleweight title)
* Champ B.J. Penn vs. Frankie Edgar (for lightweight title)
* Matt Hughes vs. Renzo Gracie
* Rafael dos Anjos vs. Terry Etim
* Kendall Grove vs. Mark Munoz

This marks the first UFC too take place outside save for an early one that was done in a tent.
Two championships on the line.

Silva vs Maia.....Silva. Silva's stand up is vastly superior and I don't see how Maia is going to get Silva down.
Penn vs Edgar... Penn. Edgar is going to try to do what Sachez tried. Drag Penn into the later rounds and gas him out. That doesn't seem to work anymore though. Penn by sub in the 4th.
Hughes vs Gracie. Gracie. UAE is his second home and he his in his comfort zone. hopefully Renzo will catch him in a 3rd round sub.
Dos Anjos vs Etim.. Etim. His better stand up will prevail.
Grove vs Munoz.. Munoz. As long as he can stay out of grove's subs from his back he should be able too GnP his way to victory

Hughes/Gracie is interesting. I'd like to see Renzo dispatch Hughes for good.
Spider and BJ should roll on no problem.

My picks:

Anderson will take out Maia in the Second with a big KO...

Penn will submit Frankie Edgar in the fourth after beating him down with his boxing...I can see it going like the Sanchez fight..Penn will land a big hit and it will take the fight out of Edgar....

As much as like to see Gracie take Hughes I doubt that will happen. Hughes by Decision...Hughes will just be too strong and too experienced for Renzo....Renzo will be on his back for most of this fight (might be a boring one)...

Grove vs Munoz: Gonna go with Grove...Grove by Decision...He'll use his reach to control the fight...

Not sure about Etim and Dos Anjos....I know I've seen them fight just can't remember anything about them....I'll pick Dos Anjos by Submission in the Third...

Frankie Edgar, new UFC light weight champion. Unanimous decision.

Anderson Silva up next against Damian Maia. I think Anderson is going to pick him apart. Maya won't be able to take him down.

You didn't miss much in the Silva fight. Glad I didn't pay to watch that! I loved how the crowd started chanting "GSP"!

Silva vs GSP at 170 will be interesting. Both of them will feel the pressure to put on a much better "show" than their last fights.

Sorry about that. I watch sports on a delay all the time, so I know the feeling. But wtf are you doing opening a thread on UFC 112 if you are going to watch it later?

Pay for it...no way. I thought half the fight was very entertaining...a clinic put on by Silva. The last half, Silva couldn't finish Maia. It was kinda boring.

No spoiler alert posted by this guy in the last UFC thread.

Total GSP domination making Hardy look like a chump. GSP is in a different universe. Props to Hardy though for having a high threshold of pain.
Carwin destroys Mir. Quick strikes and easy stoppage. Lesnar was there and couldn't resist getting in the ring and acting like a complete idiot.
Bocek got robbed by the judges. Bocek won his fight. Miller won maybe one round if that. Completely robbed by inept judging.
I don't remember the other fights really unless to say Fitch and Pellegrino both won.

So what did learn this afternoon:

Hughes threw a lot of highly effective leg kicks and Renzo although game just ran out of gas. Renzo needs too fight lower caliber opponents or retire.

So much for Penn moving up to middleweight. I suspect he might have fought injured and Edgar executed the perfect fight plan. Florian must be salivating at this point.

I gained a lot of respect for Maia while the conundrum that is Anderson continues. For the first time I think GSP could actually pull this off if this version of Silva showed up.

Dan miragliotta for the first time in his career did the right thing by warning Silva that if he kept circling and not engaging he was going too deduct a point. After the fight they seemed to be arguing as Siva was waiting to have his hand raised. Miragliotta didn't raise his hand for long either and seemed to walk away in disgust.

Dana must have flipped his biscuit watching Anderson shut down halfway through the third.

Some of Dana's comments in the post fight presser;

DW - I don't want to see GSP vs. Silva after tonight. Silva might be the first champion fighting on a prelim. I don't want to see that sh*t

dw: this one took the cake - when asked if this was more embarrassing than 97

I'm so blown away and disgusted and saddened. -- DW

DW -- I wouldnt come here if I was (anderson)

I don't get it, Silva seemed like he could have finished him at any point if he wanted. especially in the last two rounds when Maia's eye was swollen shut.

Silva was landing shots at will until he backed off and started running around the ring. The precision in his striking is awesome, he doesn't waste many punches. I was very surprised he didn't knock out Maia.

I didn't think it was that bad. It was at least a good half a fight. Maybe he should be pissed at the ref for not penalizing him in the third round when he started to do it. I kind of agree that it wasn't the best fight, or as good as it could have been if Silva had been aggressive and knocked him out. But I think he is overstating it by a lot.

I was surprised too. But I have to agree with Joe Rogan's comments/speculation about Silva being tired and not wanting to show it. I haven't heard a better explanation.

Here's what Chael Sonnen had too say about Anderson following the fight.

"There's people out there that need (to be) beaten up – he's one of them. And I have a moral obligation to society to beat him up."

Have too admit Sonnen is amusing if anything else.

Look at the time stamp.
I posted those results after the 10pm show. It was in the early hours of the morning after the 10pm casting.
Yes this one was in Abu Dhabi and way early but I was planning on watching at 10pm at the pub with my buds having a pint like a lot of people.
Get your facts straight.
