In my opinion they have nothing to apologize for.

No need to apologize and no need to explain. A girl is allowed to have a beer and a cigar after winning Olympic GOLD. YOU GO GIRLS!

Now that's a great apology! Maple syrup and alka seltzer NICE!

We've all seen teams open the booze in the locker rooms of various professional sports.

These women have nothing to apologize for, not even the 18 year old because her mother signed a note saying "My daughter can drink and smoke if she's wins a gold medal." Signed Juan Epstein's mother!

Its not up to us to determine whether they should apologize. The injured party here was the IOC, who saw the dignity of THEIR event diminished by the actions of the team. The athletes may be the stars of the Olympics but it is not their event - they don't set the rules and they don't determine the appropriate decorum. The IOC does that and they are angered by the behaviour of the Canadian ladies and it is their right to be so angered.

Ultimately, it was gross stupidity on the girls' part. Womens' hockey is already on the ropes for inclusion in future Olympic games and they have given the IOC additional reason to cut the sport from the Sochi Olympics. They were, frankly, stupid to do what they did. It may seem like small potatoes to you and me, but we aren't the ones who plan, organize and enable the Olympics, and we aren't the ones deciding whether women's hockey will get to be a sport in 2014.

Glad someone is looking at this issue from the non-Canadian/International perspective. The Olympics is an international venue. Although Canada is hosting, it still should go by Olympics etiquette. BTW, it takes character to apologize. Kudos to them!

True, but it takes all the emotion and passion out of winning the GOLD. Remember that female soccer player who removed her top to show her sports bra? Emotion, passion, love it!

There are many 'appropriate ways' to celebrate with emotion and passion. Just ask IOC. For example, one does not celebrate in a way that can be interpreted as a slap in the face of your competitors. That will be unsportsman/unsportswoman conduct. LOL!!! BTW, the good doc is not saying the female soccer player removing her top is appropriate either. Don't get carry away. Too wrongs do not make a right.

Let me get this straight ...
you want the Canadian Women's team to apologize to the IOC because their feelings were hurt ?

The prostitute chasing, bribe receiving IOC ... this is who the women are to apologize to ?

LOL

Very well, if the IOC is so bad and corrupt as well as an international criminal organization, why does Canada want to associate with it? Worse yet, why host the Winter Olympics or even participate in the competition??? Why not boycott all Olympics games or return all medals you earned to the IOC. Who needs all these tainted medals from IOC??? So either you gentlemen are wrong or the Canadian Olympic Committee and government are wrong in associating with IOC. Now don’t tell the good doc it is the latter. LMAO!!!

Again, I see nothing to appologize for, nothing even remotely wrong and objectionable about the celebration. If the IOC had any problem or policy against this, it was the job of their officials to make sure nobody gets back on the ice and that all parties leave the building promptly once all approved Olympic business was finished.

However I have lost all respect for every one of those players who have participated in this sham appology. It is a disgraceful cave-in to hypocracy and political correctness.

I now regeret that they won the gold and will never support this group again in any way. Having legitimized this false "scandal" by appologizing, they now deserve to have it rubbed in their faces as often as possible and also deserve the publishing of any further gossip or "dirt" that can be uncovered about any of them individually.

Did the celebration not occur after the media and fans had left the building? If so, who cares?
It's not as if they stood around taunting their opponents. I assume the American women were not on the ice.

At that point, it should be considered a private celebration and nobody's business. Don't forget many of these ladies are late teens or early 20's. Let's cut them some slack. They worked really hard to win gold and deserved to let off some steam.

If What??? You should explain instead of letting others guess for you. If the IOC is as corrupt and criminal as your guys think, why associate with them??? If not and you want to play with them by participating in the Olympics, then play by their rules.
