Its not up to us to determine whether they should apologize. The injured party here was the IOC, who saw the dignity of THEIR event diminished by the actions of the team.
Sorry I entirely agree with Ironhead. The IOC are as a general statement a group that "just don't get it" and who think of the Olympic Games as some great statement rather than merely an international sporting event.

At that point, it should be considered a private celebration and nobody's business. Don't forget many of these ladies are late teens or early 20's. Let's cut them some slack. They worked really hard to win gold and deserved to let off some steam.
Exactly & at this point, the Olympics were over for the women's hockey team. Nothing wrong with celebrating! It's not like they went US Men's hockey team & trashed rooms in Nagano in '98.

However I have lost all respect for every one of those players who have participated in this sham appology. It is a disgraceful cave-in to hypocracy and political correctness.

I now regeret that they won the gold and will never support this group again in any way. :mad:
I'm sure the women's hockey team will be very upset when they find out that you no longer hold them in high esteem.
