True but Luongo made it a game with a brutal first goal.
luongo does let in soft goals, especially when he isn't getting peppered with shots. he just loses focus when he isn't into the game.

what luongo does do is close the door when he has to and he proved it again last night.

Ask Team Canada's assistant coach Lindy Ruff, who happened to be Miller's head coach with the Sabres. He will have intimate knowledge of how to solve Miller the goalie. LOL!!!
Not sure Lindy knows how to beat Miller. his advice didn't do well last weekend...

Is Sidney Crosby's spitting in his hand before 'handshake time' a good message to be sending to our kids?

It is unlikely Ruff does not know anything about Miller's weaknesses in goaltending. Someone should ask where Lindy's loyalty lies. Is it with Team Canada or with Miller and the Sabres??? LOL!!!

Btw, it looks like players like Sidney Crosby are too wind up and forget about sportsmanship.

I know, I'm disappointed. I thought there'd be at least 18 by now. :D
Me too, but frankly I consider the overall level of play disappointing compared to 2002 and especially 2006 - there's been more drama & surprise twists but much of it has rested on inconsistency, underperformances and poor coaching. I find the lack of quality makes it harder to stay riveted.

Canada has improved over last time, which is good, USA & Slovakia are about the same but much more successful against a weaker field. Everyone else has played much worse (except maybe Norway).

I suspect what Ruff knows is that the stability of his income rests far more on Miller than the Canadian Olympic team and any squealing that might compromise Miller's effectiveness in the NHL would be a considerable sacrifice of self interest.

Regardless, Miller or not, I don't believe the USA will get away with being outshot and outchanced as badly as the first game for the second time in the same tournament. They'll need to play a significantly better game than any they've played in this Olympics if they want to win tomorrow.

I was just on some U.S. site and some poster is whining that Canada should not have been allowed into the medal round because they did not finish in top 4 during the preliminary round like U.S.
But, anyway, I still think his team has a very good chance on winning. Since defeating Canada last week the U.S. squad has steamrolled over opposition by a combined score of 8 -1.

Plus, Ryan Miller has dominated this tournament the same way Dominek Hasek did in Nagano in 1998. Goaltending gives the U.S. a huge competitive advantage over the Canadian team.
Goaltending is a huge mismatch in favour of the U.S. team that Canada will have to overcome.

Gary Bettman has an opportunity to get what he wanted when he agreed to NHL participation in the Olympics back in the mid nineties.
A U.S. win would give the NHL a boost in American markets and raise the profile of the game a bit down there.

3:20 pm EST translates to 12:20pm PST. You had the EST time almost correct, the Olympic web site says start time is 3:15 EST.

In case anyone wonders the closing ceremony begins at 8:30 EST.

Brain cramp, I knew it was 12, not 6. D'oh ! The gaming company I deal with had it listed as 3:20 e.s.t., that's why I used ''20'', rather than ''15'' .
