Canada better show up tonight. If they play up to their full capabilities, they should overwhealm the US. Talent-wise, the USA does not belong on the same ice as Canada. The question is if we can bring our "A" game.

It comes down to:

Genetics.
You also need to take into consideration the environment of each nation. A larger rink takes away some of the physical aspect of the game and lends itself to more speed and puckhandling. These skills are taught at the grass-roots level and players learn to adapt their game to that style.

In nations such as North America, players with less natural skills adapt their game to the role of enforcer or grinder because it allows them to be effective and play a role in the game. In nations where the size of the rink is larger, players with less skill cannot rely on an enforcer or grinder type of role.

Just a guess, but playing on an NHL sized rink, I would assume that a fourth liner developed on a larger size ice rink surface would not be as effectivce as a fourth liner developed on a smaller sized ice rink surface - And vice-versa.

Perhaps a discussion on an all world team for both ice rink sizes may reveal some interesting trends...

so what time is the game tonight?
Lucky for you, I'm not.

Russia/Czech Republic is underway right now (Russia leads 2-1 end of 2nd period), Canada/U.S.A. @ 7:45 e.s.t. and Sweden/Finland @ 12:05 am

Canada comes out of the gates seemingly inspired by the rest of the Canadain underachievers in other sports.

Not to worry. We got the Americans exactly where we want them. They are dead meat. Canada is a come from behind team. Why? Because we always seem to fuck up in the first 2 periods so we have to come from behind.

Here
U-S-A, U-S-A, U-S-A!!!

As empty net goals go, Kesler's was a beauty.... a backhanded stab when he was beaten for the touch to seal the victory.

While I do genuinely feel badly for the Canadians because it would have been a great story for them to win Hockey Gold on their own soil, the Americans played a great game and just plain beat them. No cheat win here, although the Conspiracy Theorists and American Haters will certtainly find a way to spin this otherwise.

way out in left field
Well, from that game? No wonder we don't have a sense of patriotism.....wtf was brodeur up to in the first period? Jesus. We're lucky they only got two.

And Perry? Letting that guy score one handed? Bench that fucker. He should and he could have had that puck out of danger but didn't.

I'd actually send him home on the next flight.......FUCK that was a rookie move.....

Bottom line. Miller played a great game, steady and smart.
I don't know where Brodeur was tonight, but he just guaranteed himself a spot on the bench for the rest of the tournament.

BTW, can we not shoot pucks higher than a few inches off the ice? I mean Miller plays low and we keep shooting low.
Oh well, the Canada could use the extra playoff game to get better.
