Customer is not always right

Well... I never got kicked out of a Timmies (or anywhere else for that matter...), but the last line of the article:

So he's brewing his own coffee at home, which, he said, is cheaper and always fresh.
Makes a lot of sense, and is what I have been practicing for quite some time now. Plus...

  • Its more environmentally friendly (no disposable cup)
  • No wasting 15 minutes trying to get your coffee
  • Reduces harmful auto emissions from NOT idling engine in the drive through line...

Yes, the customer is always right, but a business is free who to choose as their customers, as long as it's not based on race or other human rights factors.

There are plenty of other people they can choose to do business with.

MacDonald's coffee is decent.....better than Timmies IMHO.

But seriously one complaint fine, after several you should just brew your own or find another coffee shop.

Some people are just chronic complainers.

I agree, so what I did was stop buying their coffee. I don't know why, but there are plenty of people who enjoy their coffee, and don't even get me started on their "muffins". If he had a problem with their service, go ahead and complain, but if you don't enjoy a product, then stop buying it.

I like Tims, decent product at a good price. Went to the Second cup on Sat. One large capuccino and one date bar cost just under $8. It was good but $8!

Actually, no, the customer is NOT always right. That's a misnomer that people try to abuse.

Now if the customer has a legitimate beef, then sure, listen to him. But as per the article, the staff brewed new pots for him so what more does he want? Plus complaining to the head office? gimme a break. This guy has WAY too much time on his hands or is just a big pain in the ass......

The thing is, if he doesn't like the coffee, DON'T BUY IT. If I purchased something that almost made me sick, I wouldn't purchase it ever again. But this guy? Sounds like he kept going back for more......

I have had some issues with Tom Horton's, off and on for the last several years (food and service). I find that the staff at the stores are incapable of resolving your issues. At which point you either walk away from it or escalate it. The times (3-4) that I escalated it, I found that their Corp office did everything possible in order to dissuade you.

Since then I have switched to Country Style. Some of their locations have free wifi.

Must be the son of a "soccer" Mom, the world is supposed to bend to his accord. They made him fresh pots, clearly that's what Tim's decaf tastes like. Don't like it, don't buy it.
Don't like the customer service, do what other rational folks do, take your biz elsewhere. Maybe he should try Harvey's who clearly wrote their "have it your way" slogan just for him.

Between a rock and a hard place
I once complained to TIMs for closing the store 10 minutes early. After I made my purchase I was told I could not sit down and enjoy it 10 minutes before closing. TIMs management later told me I was right. Closing time is closing time -- it is not quitting time. i should have bene welcome to remain for the 10 minutes. They should have remained open. They refunded my purchase and then some with gift certificates and a letter.

Tboy was right. The customer is NOT always right. I'm getting the immpression of a big, overbearing loudmouth who thinks it's his right to complain and humiliate staff. I'd throw the bum out of my business if he acted obnoxiously.

The customer is NOT always right.
Fark, most of my customers are wrong most of the time when we have a difference of opinion. But I suck it up because I want their business. Having said that, I have "fired" many of them over the years... always in a nice way, but they were more trouble than they were worth.

This guy sounds like a huge dick.

Anyone who's worked retail knows who these people are... and wish that they had actually been backed up by their management after being berated rather then have the douche rewarded.

Nothing irritates me more then people who walk into every store like they're king shit just looking for trouble that they can abuse for their own personal gain.

I bet this guy went into the Timmies as often as he could and raised a shit storm and bullied staff members all in an effort to eventually take his case to corporate and exploit some free shit from them.

When he got turned away? He turns to the media and pretends to be this gentle, innocent, confused customer being bullied by the big company.

Disgusting..

Way to go Timmies!

Cel phone companies are taking this claim to heart. Customers who abuse customer relations and technical support are now being invited to take ther business elsewhere with no penalty for early contract termination. Some are not being given a choice.

It is truly amazing how fucking pitiful some people are.

I worked in retail, but not too much with customers.

Now I work in a professional role. Thankfully, I now get to fire shithead clients. If they can't learn how to behave, they can go fuck themselves.
