he was tops a long time ago... couldn't have got 104 against a better team, though... done in MB fashion.

btw- Ryan Miller is cheating with his equipment sizes...

I was a little nervous about Canada's goaltending for the Olympics, but Brodeur has stepped up his play.
Setting the new mark by shutting out the defending Cup champs in their own building ... that is the way to do it.

Would a SO in the Gold Medal game be asking too much ?

Brodeur is number 1 and Terry Sawchuck is number 2. Does anybody know who is number 3?
My guess would be Glen Hall or Jacques Plante.

However, Roy's playoff wins record will not be broken by Brodeur.

Roy - 151
Brodeur - 98

Brodeur will not play long enough to win 54 games he needs to take that record away.

I refuse to Google the answer. For some reason, I think it is the guy that Terry Sawchuck beat when he set the record. George Hainsworth at 94.
So you looked it up on the NHL website ?
After seeing your post I checked it and you got the goalie and nailed the number as well, 94.

Nope, no peeping, strictly from memory. I recall when Terry broke the record. I wonder how many years passed between George and Terry. We know Terry's record lasted 39 years.

Congrats to Martin, however, both Roy and Hasek were better than him regardless of the stats because Martin played on a consistently better team than the other two.

Maybe he was a big reason why they were consistently better. A lot of those teams did not score a lot of goals so he could not afford to make many mistakes.

I rate Plante and Brodeur 1 and 1A. Better stats for Brodeur but Plante revolutionized the position the way Orr did for defencemen. Plante was also an MVP (maybe twice, not sure).

When you watch old footage it's amazing to see how small the goalies looked in front of the net. Today's goalies' bodies cover at least 50% more area.

Not Roy

Roy was playing on better teams actually.

Brodeur was on a bunch of very defensive teams....we all remember the trap...and low scoring affairs. So to win, often it took a shutout!!

Brodeur is clearly a better goalie than Roy...with more class...and for those who argue....clearly they DO NOT know hockey.

This is not personal preference...or a hate-on for PAtrick. Just fact!!
