There are many long range outlooks for our upcoming winter season out there.

Dave Phillips from Environment Canada is calling for a mild winter and a green Christmas. I don't put much faith in Dave's forecasting ability after his last few. He called for a sunny, hot summer back in April.....

Accuweather has some pretty interesting stuff, but their track record over the last couple of years hasn't been that great either.

Here is one from Joe Bastardi with Accuweather. He's been forecasting a cold snowy winter since the middle of July.

I'm a bit of a winter weather buff and can remember the winter of 77/78. I loved it. Love the snow and the prolonged cold....

If you have heard any winter forecasts for southern Ontario, or the Northeastern U.S. please post. Lets take a look at their accuracy in March...

Cold with a change of snow.

This pattern should continue till mid-spring.

In Buffalo if you want to predict tomorrows weather you look to Chicago today.

Didn't we already have snow this time last year? I think it's going to be somewhat mild, one of those years where we get a huge dumping and most of it is gone in a week, just in time for another huge dumping. I think we had that 2 or 3 years ago.

According to the Farmers Almanac, it's going to be a mixed bg pretty much the usual stuff.

Read the following for more details.

I've found this source to be quite reliable and those who have looked into it deeper have said historically this source is scaringly more accurate than most media sources. Honest!!

Ya, I know it called for snow at this time, but hey, it is a weather forecast or is it a whether forecast?

The girls should be wearing hats and scarfs. That's where most body heat exits.

Even if it does not snow, chances are that it will be below 10C for most of the time. I had the winter rubber put on the car on Friday. I will have to drive to Ottawa at least twice before the spring, and I feel much more comfortable with winter tires on.

Put it this way - after the last 3 winters, we need a break.

After the last 2 shitty summers - we deserve a mild winter.

If it never snowed all winter - I'd be totally fine with that. I hate winter. I hate the snow, I hate the cold, I hate the ice, I hate the lack of sun, I hate all the gear I have to wear, I hate not being able to sit outside.

I pay no attention to whatever they say. They have trouble predicting what's going to happen in the next 48 hour, so how could anybody (with a straight face) attempt to predict or give any credence to someone who does make a prediction?
