Sonofabitch!!!!!

Some ass-wipe stole my bike...

Went for my daily ride last evening same as always, and parked it in the garage next to all the other bikes upon my return... (my spare, all 3 of my kid's bikes and my wife's...). My kid's were all still out playing, but when they came in, they didn't close the garage door. (It's so hard I know... all you have to do is press the button! TEENAGERS! ARG...)

Anyway, the wife gets home from work at about 11:00 says, hey babe where's your bike? WTF! Mine and my son's bikes were stolen right out of the garage!

Sorry about your loss. Maybe you'll get lucky like me. I was riding and stopped at Walmart. Someone saw me, followed me, and threw my bike in the back of their truck while I was in Walmart. One year later, got a call from NYS Police. They have my bike. I had registered the serial # when I bought it. There was a drug bust and my bike, and many others, were recovered. Good luck!!

So CG:
How old are your kids?
How much was your bike worth?
How much do you give them for allowance?

See where I'm going?

I had a family friend whose son never locked up his bike and it was stolen more than a couple of times. Instead of continually replacing it, after the last one, they said "if this one gets stolen, we're not replacing it...." sure enough, he didn't lock it, it got stolen, and he didn't have a bike until he earned enough money to pay for it......

Kids: Almost 13, almost 14 & almost 16.
Bike and installed accessories: mine about $1400, son's bike about $400
Allowance: Have to talk to the wife... but probably TOO MUCH! LOL

What will probably end up happening is the insurance will cover the cost of most of my bike and son's bike will be eaten up by the deductible... so he'll have to "earn" the use of my spare bike... ;)

In the laboratory.
Sorry about the bikes but I couldn't take the chance of any more tour photos. Thinking it over, I'm sure you'll understand.

Anything else stolen from the garage besides the bikes? If not it seems like you were targeted for awhile. Probably not a random theft here. Five bikes, that takes some work and some planning. Hate to say this but it's most likely somebody who knows your family and was waiting for the opportunity.

Just be careful: too many claims against your home insurance and your rates will go up.

But the FIRST thing I'd be doing is make the kids responsible feel responsible and I would definitely make whoever it was replace their own bike. At least until then you won't have to worry about them leaving the garage door open again......

sorry to hear cg... my folks had their electric bikes stolen a few months ago as well out of their garage in St. Catharines.
One of the reasons I usually get a cheap bike. You feel so violated when you're robbed.

Sorry to hear that man. That is frustrating.
But feel better thinking about how much better your life is and always will be than the person who has to steal from you.

Just a question.. For all the people who have ever has something stolen , have you ever bought something knowing that it was hot(stolen)?

I did once and was so sick to my stomach that I ended up taking to the police and telling them what happen, they held on to it for 30 days, then tried to return it to me, but I didn't want it.

I've lost a couple of bikes over the years. I know the feeling. Especially when it is stolen from the garage. I use my bike on a daily basis too, so I am very dependent on it to get around.

You might be right as nothing else was stolen... just my bike and my son's bike. They left my spare bike, both my daughters' bikes and my wife's. They also left everything else alone...

Thanks tboy... last claim I had on my house insurance was WAY back in 1995 or 96 when my golf clubs were stolen from my garage while I was mowing the back yard! (I swear it was the paperboy!)

Appreciate the suggestion soulsphere, I may do that for my son's bike, but the $120 bike won't work for me unfortunately... I would burn through that in a matter of months... I've tried that before... in fact my spare is a Canadian Tire special, but it can't handle the kms I put on which is why I got the TREK LY.

Probably a group of kids. Quick snatch and grab.

I'd report it to the police. Probably won't get your bikes back but your report will be combined with others and once in a while it pays off.

I use a key pad on my garage door.

Good luck with the insurance...:)
