Why do people say they’re leaving a thread and then keep coming back?

They act like they’re getting the last word and making a dramatic exit...and then they show up again the next day!

So annoying!

There should be a rule against this!

cuz it easier said than done. Its an addiction. Addiction continues because it was, or is, pleasurable and/or valuable.

simple bully/bullied mentality. If I say I'm done and then someone chooses to respond, especially if their subsequent comment is rude/insulting, there is a definite desire to respond back (sometimes in kind). I go with the belief that people curse you to get you to shut up instead of actually coming up with a strong reason/argument that will get you to stop, they are trying to bully you into silence. I get quite a few snarky comments from people after I'm done and I happily respond because I won't let a bully win. I also consider crying harassment as a form of bullying - this is a public forum. If you post something, simply be prepared to have others respond. I bring this up because some people will use this as part of the snarky comments.

Well then you shouldn’t have said you were leaving if you can be so easily goaded to return. If you say you’re leaving you shouldn’t even open the thread again.
