The Jays starting pitching will determine this season, how they do against division rivals will be everything.

This American League East division, doesn't have strong starting pitching. The NL East, check out their starters.

What is surprising so far about Toronto's pitching is the bullpen. Not shabby at all. The starters have struggled, but if Dickey, Morrow and Happ can have good seasons, all three could, then the Jays are a serious playoff contender. The offense is still there. Josh Johnson looked washed up last year. He's washed up this year, maybe even more.

Listen to Tampa Devil Rays manager John Maddon. He says the Jays are a team that are simple to play against. They get on base they try to hit home runs. Look at all the wins so far this season. All had big hits. Several usually. Tonight in KC only one big hit. That's the Jays for the past 10 years.

John Gibbons has to explain to me why he took Dickey out of the game in favour of Santos?
Don't tell me it was a "pitch count" because that's ridiculous. Knucklers don't have pitch counts and can throw forever.
Dickey was cruising and the knuckler was finally dancing.

Gibby replaced Dickey with Oliver. Santos pitched in the 8th as did Cecil Jansen the 9th.
No explaining needed. Jays won!

I think it's safe to say that he has been prone to injuries to his lower-body in the last few years.
Being a base stealer takes a toll on your lower body (Brock and Henderson are exceptions and that is why the are in HOF). Maybe Reyes should steal less and save his body?
Query: When will the real Brandon Morrow (not to be confused with Brendan Morrow) show up?

Right, Oliver.
I had that mixed up.
Still though. WHY???
Dickey could have finished that game easily.

And yes he needs to explain his thinking as this type of move will hurt the team in the long run and shows his mentality.

Aren't arbitrary end-points fun? ;)
He's not THAT injury-prone, but the last four years (which are probably more relevant to a player's proclivity to injuries than the last NINE) don't look that good. Sure, 160 games played last year, but he'd missed over a month each of the two seasons before that, and almost the entire year in 2009.
I think it's safe to say that he has been prone to injuries to his lower-body in the last few years.
Anyway, THREE MONTHS. That's gonna cost them a few games in the standings.
They sure are.
Lets look at the last 3 years. 86.21% of his team's games.
Reyes's legs are part of what makes him great, and also where he has had health issues.
I expect Jose back shortly after the All-Star Break (2013).

Will be interesting to see which Morrow turns up today. If he's back to form Jays have a good chance of sweeping KC.

Three more winnable games in Chicago after that before the Yankees which is earliest we can expect Lawrie back.

Bonifacio in CF? No Rasmus today?
WTF is Gibbons doing? :frusty:
And in the immortal words of Billy Beane, "I don't care about righty or lefty. I care about runs!"

BTW, are we reading into Lawrie playing 2B today in Dunedin?
A move to have Bautista permenantly at 3B? Izturis/Kawasaki platoon at SS?
Bonifacio to play leftrightout? Please.

Many times I don't understand your thought process behind your posts but this one was way over the top...lol
I am an unconventional thinker. Not everything is as it appears. When I was younger I studied the battle tactics of famous warriors such as Napoleon, Wellington, Hannibal, Admiral Nelson, Patton, etc. and they were unconventional thinkers.

Because people who don't have facts need to make their voices heard. If Josh Johnson was "washed up" last year, so were most of the pitchers in baseball.
Wow. There's a reason I don't come here very often.
Anyway, back to your lunacy.
Josh Johnson had a stunning year in 2010, where he should have won the Cy Young. To illustrate how dominant he was, if you saw him pitch, he was just as good as Roy Halladay, who was at that time considered the best pitcher in baseball. Johnson was a top power pitcher in the game.

After couple of injuries, the speed on the fastball is not there anymore. This is an athlete in decline, which was evident last year. He is not a power pitcher anymore.

Last couple of seasons, he would have a good start here and there, then get rung up. At his peak, that never would have happen, he would dominate the whole game.

With the Jays, he gets pounded, which is common theme with Johnson the past year and now. This is not the same pitcher 3 years ago. Does he look like a power pitcher out there? Hardly. Not anymore.

Johnson will wind up in the bullpen or get traded back to the NL. Washed up.
