Looks like they didn't take your advice.
Whoa! Tell me about it. Looks like the Sabers found their killer instinct allright. I'm glad to see it though, the sight of Clarke & Hitchcock looking pissed & humiliated will be the highlight of this playoffs for me!
I don't know why people are so surprised. The Flyers were never that good. Back in 2004, they didn't dispose of the Leafs nearly as easily as I expected. Looking back at the Tampa series, they should have lost it in 5 games, a few big periods by Primeau and 3 weak goals by Khabibulin on 90 degree shots made it look close.
The Flyers musrt have set another record for goals recieved from giveaways behind thier own net.
This had nothing to do with "The New NHL", Philly had the same problem in 2004. Their Defensemen are incapable of thinking & executing under duress. It's like they get the puck in their zone and think
"OK, now it's our turn to have a posession and you guys go to the neutral zone and wait for us"
Other reviews:
-Really impressed with the positioning and defensive intuition of
Kalinin. I never noticed this guy before. Was he always this good without the puck or has it been the coaching and teamates this year?
-Briere looks like the athleticism of Denis Savard and the passing mind of Neal Broten all in one package.
-Great to see
Afinogenov finally looking intense and motivated. He totally intimidated the Flyers defense with his jump, puckhandling and even physicality. It's like a supersized Kamensky with a lefthanded shot. I wonderif he can keep it up, he's been an enigma his whole career.
