So ... if I were an African American male teen with a gun and I see GZ walking towards me, can I kill him claim I was standing my ground in reasonable fear for my life because (1) he's armed and (2) he's known to have killed a black teenager?
sorry. SYG is not for black peopleSo ... if I were an African American male teen with a gun and I see GZ walking towards me, can I kill him claim I was standing my ground in reasonable fear for my life because (1) he's armed and (2) he's known to have killed a black teenager?
I would think no, because the law found him not guilty , so to assume there was danger simply based on who he is would not be sufficient. So ... if I were an African American male teen with a gun and I see GZ walking towards me, can I kill him claim I was standing my ground in reasonable fear for my life because (1) he's armed and (2) he's known to have killed a black teenager?
there's a video from the officer-cam. he was speeding, informed the officer of his weapon and was let go with a warning. one of the quietest most civilized infraction stops ever. it won't make the tv shows. syg was never part of his defense. i'm not sure why it was mentioned in this thread.I thought he just got stopped for driving infraction in Texas. He should fit right in.
Yeah, the facts never get in the way of an argument here....there's a video from the officer-cam. he was speeding, informed the officer of his weapon and was let go with a warning. one of the quietest most civilized infraction stops ever. it won't make the tv shows. syg was never part of his defense. i'm not sure why it was mentioned in this thread.
astonishing that a jury with 5 out of six white people on it came up with that doozy
SYG is for everyone. The jury has already said there were no racial elements to the trial.
I thought it was the prosection that decided to not pursue it as part of the case? If so, it could be partially why the jury came to that conclusion.astonishing that a jury with 5 out of six white people on it came up with that doozy
Change the parties to any races you would like, the answer is still a resounding NO, you will be going to prison for murder likely even First Degree Murder (given that you knew who the person was etc. . .)So ... if I were an African American male teen with a gun and I see GZ walking towards me, can I kill him claim I was standing my ground in reasonable fear for my life because (1) he's armed and (2) he's known to have killed a black teenager?
How do you figure that? The prosecution couldn't prove racial animus and the defence had a ton of evidence going the other way.astonishing that a jury with 5 out of six white people on it came up with that doozy
Maybe not if I provoke a confrontation with him, start to lose and then cap him.Change the parties to any races you would like, the answer is still a resounding NO, you will be going to prison for murder likely even First Degree Murder (given that you knew who the person was etc. . .)
You are going to have an almost impossible defence.Maybe not if I provoke a confrontation with him, start to lose and then cap him.
No. You can only rely on SYG if you're actually attacked (according to the Florida statute). So ... if I were an African American male teen with a gun and I see GZ walking towards me, can I kill him claim I was standing my ground in reasonable fear for my life because (1) he's armed and (2) he's known to have killed a black teenager?
