I'm not sure how we got from Miller's speech to a discussion about Chretien, but if you don't think it takes a smart politician to be in the business for a quarter of a century and never - and I mean never - lose an election, well, that tells me less about Chretien and more about you.

You can disagree with his politics, his policies, his agenda and his accomplishments, but few Canadians, regardless of political stripe, thought that Chretien was some sort of fool.

Stockwell Day, or Stephen Harper, on the other hand...

You may have me here, I just read some of the things he'd said in the last few years and they were pretty questionable. I was attributing his success to the party mechanism in a one party democracy.

..in communication only 7% is through the words the rest is through body language and tone. Millers words were not that bad, typical politicians speech, filled with half truths and exagerations, it was his tone and body language that were so ugly.

This is all the Democrats have been focused on for the last 9 months - they've gotten all the mileage out of the Bush record they are going to get. What Kerry lacks are people who actually like him and a plan for the next 4 years (but maybe he doesn't even know what he thinks).

The ABB has run its course, from Michael Moore to Al Franken they hysterical left has taken their shot and it's fallen (just) short. Now the left just looks desperate in their ABB approach.

Yes or No. 1)Did Zell Miller say nothing makes him madder than an American calling Americans occupiers rather than liberators.....and did George Bush refer to Iraq as an occupation?

2)Did Cheney argue against several of the defense systems that Miller aimed at Kerry? And did Kerry not vote against the actual systems, but rather against overall budget bills relative to those systems? To where the logic they are using means they could suggest Kerry voted to totally disband the entire military?

You keep suggesting they pointed out Kerry's damning record, but the things he pointed out are as damning to Bush and Cheney as they are to Kerry.
