Saw Yuja a few years ago with TSO. She played Rachmaninoff 3 that night. Very similar outfit. Yep sexy but honestly you forgot about it when you watch her play. Virtuoso.

While waiting to watch the new American government to be sworn in, I took the time to listen to Ms Wang's rendition of Rachmaninov's 3rd. She has a light touch that creates a lovely sound, unfortunately the Icarus mentality that makes the concerto so thrilling isn't there. Ironically two of the three best Rachmaninov 3rd are by Americans: Earl Wild, Vladimir Horowitz and Barry Douglas...no Chinese contenders.

She plays Liszt better than she plays Rachmaninov, it'll take her awhile to reach Mitsuko Uchida's level...but then I don't want to bend Ms Uchida over the piano.

Helene Grimaud is 50 now, in her youth she was just as sexy as Ms Wang, but different. Ms Wang you want to frank, knees to ears, till the sun comes up. Ms Grimaud I would have with fave beans and a nice Chianti.

The producers of Heavy Metal made their own version of Fantasia, this was included. Debussy always goads you to spark one.
