By far my favorite Olympics was Seoul '88. Leading up to that 100m race it was a tense drama. The final was so fast compared to the preliminaries with 3 runners running sub 10 seconds. A loaded field represented by 3 Americans, 2 Canadians a Brit a Jamaican and a Brazilian. Celebrities were in attendance it was quite the showcase. I don't care what anyone says Ben won that race - the entire field was dirty and everyone knows it. Johnson obliterated the field easing up in the last 10 metres and putting up a 9.79. I remember watching the race with my pops and we went ballistic when Ben won. It was a great father son moment as I'm sure it was in many households across the country. That day Canada was KING. I still have all the newspaper clippings.
Also that Olympics I watched the boxing closely. It was marred with controversy of course with the hometown Korean being awarded the gold over Roy Jones Jr. in one of the worst decisions in boxing history. And lets not forget the Canadians - Lennox Lewis defeating Riddick Bowe in the Super Heavyweight gold match and Toronto's Egerton Marcus boxing with a broken hand and putting in a valiant effort coming up short in he gold medal final against the heavily favored East German Henry Maske.
