Your Data Plan

I'm thinking of upgrading my current cell phone. But all of the decent phones out there are "smartphones" that require data plans to activate them. I find it hard to justify $25 - $45 bucks a month on top of my phone plan for internet access when I have the internet at home already. My current phone has an internet browser that I pay $7/month for and that seems fine for me. Anyone know of any better deals on Smartphone activations??

I agree.

I just use free wi-fi when I can in coffee shops, etc. on my Ipod Touch...

it's available alot of places and it's not like you can browse and drive anymore, hehe...so, what's the point of paying 25-50/mth?

and kept my old BB for free email push, Messenger, unltd. texting. good enough for me.

I have a Telus 3 year plan...100 weekday daytime minutes, unlimited minutes after 6 and wknds. Free data plan(normally $15) that includes internet, 250 send/unlimited recieve texts, voice mail, caller ID. All for $38 with tax.

I use Rogers......I am not sure about Bell

tiger always sells unlocked phones from here or the usa.
buying an unlocked (smart)phone outright will still allow u to use alot of "dumb phone" features, minus the $7 wap browsing.
but i upped to a BB 9700 and my plan only increased by $18, so i'm happy
